(Draught at In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 18 Feb 2016) Amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with orange peel, grapefruit and dried apricots. Malty, fruity taste with orange peel, marmalade, grapefruit, apricots, caramel and a generous citric bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Really fresh and tasty with a generous citric hop character. Very nice. BuckeyeBoy (8860) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JAN 28, 2016
500ml bottle picked up at tres bonne. pours out a crisp copper golden topped with a sand head. Nose is old cardboard hops all the way gone at this point some sweet malts. Taste is more of the old dead hops and sweetness a little touch of bitterness on the end. My first beer from Wales to bad it was so old. I am sure it would be much better fresh. UPDATED: APR 7, 2014 Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; clear light copper pour with frothy white head, pine hop aroma, caramel taste with a hint of bread pine hop and a hint of citrus. Sigmund (8025) - Tau, NORWAY - AUG 4, 2011
500 ml bottle, from SuperBest Hjørring. ABV is 5.6%. Deep golden colour, moderate white head. Moderate but nice aroma of fruity hops, hints of orange marmalade, also notes of caramel and toffee. The flavour is medium sweet, notes of caramel and bitter orange marmalade again, plenty of grapefruity and piney hops, ending in a solid bitterness which is surprisingly sharp and distinct for a Welsh ale. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly lasting.
Body is dark yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted bread, cookie), lightly hoppy (herbs, flowers), lightly yeasty (dough), with a note of Meyer lemon, light note of butter.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium body, velvety/watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Basically a richer version of the Golden, but while the aroma is attractive it’s pretty quiet. Wonderful balance in the mouth, neither too sweet or too dry for its size, very clean and flavorful. As enjoyable as the Golden, but the Native Storm is the clear winner among the three. Geokkjer (7667) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - AUG 20, 2011
