Celt Dark-Age is a delicious full bodied Welsh dark beer. The beer has a special blend of coffee and chocolate flavours, which are balanced with a smooth aroma with subtle notes of caramel and dark fruit, leading to a bitter finish. This beers name comes from the Dark age. Folklore has highlighted many stories of Celtic warriors and kings that waged successful battles against the intruding Anglo-Saxons. None more than King Arthur, who legend has it, fought in 12 battles in the late 5th and early 6th century.

Pours deep mahogany into an english pint. Tan head with good retention recedes leaving sheet lacing. Sweet dark caramel aromas. Thin with dark caramel and pit fruit upfront turning slightly metallic in the lasting bitter soy finish.

Pint bottle. Dark brown with a tan head. Fruited nose includes berries, earth, and cocoa. Low bitterness early but dark bakers chocolate bitterness late and then it becomes citrusy. Caramel, earthiness, complex dark and over ripe fruit flavors. Finishes a lot like a mild with that earthy maltiness.

Cask @Knights Templar, Bristol. Dark red/copper, very hazy at the beginning and then it clears out, medium head, great lacing. Aroma of wet grain, bit of coffee and caramel. Lightly bitter taste, long finish, light body, soft carbonation. Dark, but very light and soft ale, very drinkable.

500ml bottle @Mad for Beer (Rome). Pours deep brown with a medium off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit, pine, roasted malts, light metallic note. Flavour is light sweet with a medium bitter end, a bit unbalanced. Medium body, medium to light carbonation. Rough, not my cup of tea.

Pours nut brown with huge head. Aroma is nuts, some caramel, cream, chocolate, coriander, raisin, some wood, yeast. Taste is caramel, chocolate, crispy white bread, roasted corn, some malts, aged wood. Too much carbonisation, otherwise should be good.
