Sample at Picaroon's Brewer's Bash. Deep red colour. Aroma is strong hops with some full red ale malt behind it. Taste is powerful resin, with caramel and biscuit malt backing it up. Full body. Overall, while the two strong forces are balanced, the are almost too intense. This beer is experienced, but maybe not savoured. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

pours a dark reddish amber with a small beige head. Aroma of dry caramel malts, bready malts, and some pungent resinous hops. Flavour is very round, full of dry caramel malts, resinous hops, and some very subtle fruity notes. Extremely well-balanced but the flavour profile isn’t anything special. Good stuf

On tap at London Pub. Clear amber, minimal cap. Consistent lacing. Aroma of pine, grapefruit, raisin, prunes, hay. Taste is more raisin & prunes, caramel, grapefruit, pine. VERY smooth drinking. 9.5%? This could easily get ya in trouble.

On tap at the brewpub in Surrey, and bomber purchased at Liberty Wine Merchants on Commercial Drive in Vancouver. Dropped in for a glass at Crit’s recommendation, and it’s a doozy! The first thing one naturally notices is the deep red colour. A nice beige head on it’s shoulders as well. Hops and fruit on the nose. It’s very much like an imperial IPA, but with more fruit. I can’t tease out the fruit flavours here, but there’s an impression of raspberry and other berry fruits. Delicious!

Note: Description on Ratebeer lists alcohol content at 8.5%, whereas my bottle label says 9.5%. I sent in a correction, but no change so far.

Pours a deep walnut-tinged ruby red with an overripe fruity aroma - think brown bananas - and a light note of sweet mash. Short head but plenty of foam & lace with great retention. Strong malty body, more damp grains, guava gives way to a hint of brown banana (again) and believe it or not, avacado & diacetyl. Since it’s got such a malty backbone, the diacetyl simply tastes intentional, so it’s still quite quaffable, though there is not doubt of the alcohol content of this beast. Slightly underwhelming carbonation, but nice creaminess to the body. This beer definitely has issues, but I’m not sure that I really mind.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a dark reddish amber with a small beige head. Aroma of dry caramel malts, bready malts, and some pungent resinous hops. Flavour is very round, full of dry caramel malts, resinous hops, and some very subtle fruity notes. Extremely well-balanced but the flavour profile isn’t anything special. Good stuff.
