3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a near-black brown with thin creamy-tan head with decent retention and some lace. Aroma is sweet, notes of licorice. Taste is... disappointing. Watery bready malt with some chocolate - more like a porter - and surprisingly present hops (that bit no altogether bad, but puzzling). Slightly sour, notes of dark fruit. Thin body, medium carbonation. If this had been marketed as a porter, I think I wouldn’t have been so disappointed & confused.
Bottle, labeled as Red Betty Oatmeal Stout. Deep cola brown/black hue with a thin sticky light tan head. Smokey and slightly nutty nose that’s got a faint bit of mild cocoa sweetness in there. Clean and smokey dark roast malt flavor that’s got a hint of coffee and a touch of chocolate. Mild, even keeled and just a little smokey chocolate. tmalaher (347) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - APR 14, 2016
UPDATED: APR 14, 2016 Dark with too much foam. Very little flavor of interest. I expect better from CC. bdleedahl (478) - , Saskatchewan, CANADA - MAR 26, 2016
There's nothing wrong with this beer, it's just spectacularly unspectacular. Thin on the body and lacking flavour for a stout.

Can - Roasted malts. Jet black thin white head. Roasted malts with a touch of bittersweet chocolate. A basic but decent stout, very sessionable if not interesting.
Pretty typical dry stout. Dark, white head, even has the texture of a Guinness. Nothing too interesting, but an okay beer. MunBro (942) - St. Albert, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 10, 2015
Pretty nice and well balanced stout. Dark brown/black pour with a foamy tan head. Notes of roasted malts, chocolates, and licorice. Oldschool_Mike (368) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 31, 2015
