Pour at Great Taste of the Midwest 2017. The last keg ever, Central Waters says. Appears as murky black, somewhat translucent with cola colored hues. Small brown splotchy cap...light carbonation provides a few bubbles. Aromas of light anise, wet oak, slight alcohol sting, light chocolate, light roasted malt. Taste has a bit of an oxidized malt note, light soy sauce sweetness, anise, and a big bourbon presence...although, not as hot as the nose suggested. Mouthfeel is oily and a tad thinner than I was hoping for, given the ABV. All in all a very nice beer and happy to have tried it!

Bottle at the radikal whale slaying. Thnx to Nikos !!! Pours black, small grey head fades rather fast. Smell is intense, bit boozy, oak, definately bourbon. Also rich dark malts underneath. Taste is full, thick, very intense bourbon. Notes of vanilla. intense oak. Rich dark grainy notes. Some chocolate. Shame it’s soo boozy, as that overtakes a lot of the taste. Very nice imperial stout .

March 11, 2017 - on tap at the Rare Beer Fest. Black pour with limited head. Aroma and taste of bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, wood and tobacco. I saved the best rating for last. Came into the event with a lot of hype and this lived up to it. Would have liked to get a second pour, but the line was too long to justify it.

Bomber to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). Looks flawless; an almost completely opaque dull black with rich beige head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells delicious! A barrel-bomb with loads of oak and vanilla up front followed by chocolate, dark malt, and mild bitterness. Tastes like it smells, but a bit less decadent, and more bitter. Still delicious though. Mouthfeel is full-bodied with some pleasant bitterness. Moderately warming, but smooth. Delicious.

Umpff - pour is pitch black, with a ring of light khaki head. Aroma is crazily bourbon forward on the nose. Plenty of vanilla, dark chocolate fudge, oak, slightly leathery, slight marzipan with bourbon soaked Christmassy cherries, slight milk chocolate, burned oak, slight marshmallows, almost some tannins from the barrel, tobacco, slight asphalt. Pretty fcking gewd and bourbon gewdness. Taste is super sweet, but is very well balanced. Semi full bodied, with a somewhat flat but still tingling. This tingles in all the right places. Thanks a bunch Aaron.
