Bourbon is not at all overpowering, probably the most well adjusted barrel I have ever had over sweet malty goodness. Very nice aroma. Pour leaves a little to be desired, a dark red with very little head only gets bonus point for looking viscous as hell. Mouth is just amazing on this one, I don’t know that I’ve ever tasted something so thick and smooth. The taste is good, not great, but it is rather pleasant. A tad on the sweet side.

Bottle - Mahogany pour with a small head. Beautiful. Smells of butterscotch, bourbon, raisins, and just a little warmth. Taste is big and sweet, with caramel, bourbon, dark fruit, and just enough hops on the finish. This beer is smooth and velvety in the mouth, and even though you’ve got a little burn it hides the 11.2% pretty well. If this wasn’t $5/bottle, I’d drink it all the time.

Bottle said "Bourbon Barrel Barleywine 2009" but the link directed me here. Deep brownish amber color with a light and foamy tan head. Strong aroma of bourbon, alcohol and vanilla. Boozy but dry and malty taste with hints of toffee, raisins and vanilla.

Bottle at Papsø’s - Thanks to CaptainCougar. Cloudy red/brown - white head. Sweetness, candy, bourbon, vanilla, coconut, alcoholic, sharpness, dryness, licorice, grassy, grainy, roasted, toasted. Nice.

GTMW 2009. Poured a hazy dark orange color with an off white head. Smelled of booze, fig, raisin, and caramel. Nice. Full bodied with mild bitterness. Sweet, but not overly so. The sugars were opposed by a bit of acidity. The flavors were well balanced with vanilla, caramel apple, toffee, and molasses elements. There was a splash of bourbon, but thankfully, this one was not over-bourbonated. Good stuff.

courtesy from a good BA trade. Pours dark orange with thin off white head. Aroma is filled with bourbon, notes of caramel, brown sugar and malts. Flavor, caramel, malts, some chocolate and plenty of bourbon palate while the overall wood is very mild. Medium carbonation with a boozy mouthfeel. Another outstanding CW beer.

UPDATED: SEP 25, 2009 Wow. 2007 bottle. Aroma is incredible. Unbelieveably smooth. Notes of super bourbon , chocolate, vanilla, raison, toffee. Alcohol is quite the compliment to this one. Slighly chewy stický, mouthfeel. Bringing some of this home! Great beer.

Bottle; poured an amber color with not much head. Kind of thick aroma. Aroma of dough, caramel, fruit, with some bourbon and alcohol. Flavor was much of the same and a bit hot. Doughy malt flavor, caramel, sweet malt, with some dark fruit and earth. Really nice beer; thanks Jon! Alcohol was well hidden.
