Dark hazy brown color with a off-white head. Smells consists of vanilla, caramel, chocolate, bourbon, and whiskey. Taste is vanilla, bourbon, oak, caramelized malts, whiskey, and some hops; Tastes like bourbon, I love it. Body is heavy with some mild to moderate carbonation. An excellent Barleywine overall that is bursting at the seams with flavor! Dave11899 (23) - Minnesota, USA - FEB 25, 2014
2014 release poured from a 12oz bottle.
Appears an orangish brown (like an unfiltered cider). Little to no head or carbonation. This is a very good thing. Beer is very viscous as it clings to the glass.
Smells of Bourbon, with slight hops and caramel. No wood from the barrel coming through... Also a good thing.
Taste is magnificent. Sweet at first that turns into a slight burn from the alcohol/hops/Bourbon with a hop dryness on the tongue at the end. The aroma is so strong you can feel it up through your nose. The sweetness tastes like caramel.
Kinda of hit on the palate. Overall itís smooth but the hops is apparent at the end... Yet the key is that it doesnít distort the next sip.
Overall, this is my first barrel aged Barleywine... So I donít have much to compare it to... But itís delicious. Id say it resembles a different style if beer other than Barleywine. But I donít care itís snagging. It is now easily in my top 10. fitwitchik (433) - Ohio, USA - MAR 29, 2014
Poured into snifter from a botte bought at West Lake View Liquors in Chicago a clear red caramel color with a tan head that left quite quickly.
Aroma is boozy sweet thinking of toffee cocoa malts & every so faint hops.
Flavor is classic American barley with lotsa hops & lotsa sweet going on here. English Barley wine is my preference but this is such a great ABW. Dark fruits hidden nicely behind the high booziness of the brew.
Overall quite a delicious BW brew. Balanced but the hops fly high.

A dark amber pour holds a thin head. Smell of Cherries, currant, vannilla bourbon, sweet malt . Taste is big with dried cherry, currant flavor and sweet malt. Great vannila from the bourbon barrell and a warm alcohol flavor. A super beer, really super. Oh yeah, and a little scary how drinkable it is. Had this on tap. Very thick, sweet, and delicious. Smooth and very bourbon forward. From what I remember it was legen... wait for it... hope youre not bourbon intolerant... dairy.

Poured from a bottle into a pont glass. Ruddy brown/orange appearance with a spongy white head that sticks around for a while. The nose is incredible. Iím getting leather, vanilla, oak, bourbon, tobacco, caramelized brown sugar, syrup, and earth. The palate is dense and chewy with a smooth silky finish. Toffee, bourbon, oak, some floral hops and a bit of heat from the alcohol come together to define the taste profile. This beer tastes an awful lot like the barrel aged old ruffian from the great divide which is no small feat. Absolutely masterful brew. kimjongill (207) - - MAR 4, 2013
Great aroma of malt and liquor. Pours a deep amber with a thin tan head. Great taste balance. Not dissimilar to oak horizontal, which is one of the better english barleywines available. Mouthfeel is dead on.

More oak. More bourbon. Thick, oaky and caramelized bing cherry complexity. Much improved on an already tasty concoction.
Tap @ GTMW 2006.
Hazed caramel orange in color with a milky, graying ice sheaf thatís dominated with bubble pockets. Aromatic achievement nails bourbon with bing cherry diligence, along with rum runners and rum raisins hidden in brown sugared grahams with a ribbon of grenadine. Plum smacked hickory leads into a wholesomely bright flavor bliss with salty bitterings hanging along the tongue. Smooth elements are carbonated by the alcohol hotness and amplified flavor contributors. Oily meringue with dates, caramelized to the heartís content, trail into a lingering finish. Well done.
Hazy amber brownish color with a beige head that has decent retention and lacing. Aroma just amazes me; I absolutely love their bourbon beers, havenít had anything else that compares. Sweet caramel, bourbon, and vanilla; just such an amazing aroma. Taste echoes the aroma. Whatever they do, the flavors just hit me perfectly. Thicker than medium body, somewhat light carbonation, but goes down very smooth. Another excellent barrel aged beer from Central Waters. Keep it up! adrian910ss (2572) - Doylestown, PA, USA - NOV 26, 2008
2008 bottle courtesy of the MotorToddHead. Pours a murky dark caramel brown with a small beige head. Aroma of sweet dark fruit, brown sugar, vanilla, coconut, wood and bourbon. Taste of mild bourbon blended with dates, brown sugar, vanilla, coconut and wood. This one is SUPERB !!!!
