4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours pitch black with a tiny tan head that leaves immediately. Aroma is vanilla and bourbon. Taste is bitter from the roasted malts that are then mostly covered up by sweet caramel malts and bourbon. It’s not as heavy on the bourbon flavor as others I’ve tried but it’s definitely there and more balanced, which I prefer. The main issue I have with this beer is that it is overcarbed for the style and there’s too much of the carbonic bit to it which makes the fuller body seem much more light. This gets better when you let it sit out a bit to warm up and lose some of the carbonation. Overall I’m fairly impressed with this stout and pleasantly surprised that it didn’t taste like carbonated bourbon like many others of this style tend to be.
355ml bottle (thx, Chris S.!). Vintage 2014. Pours a deep black (whoa!) With a beige head. Aroma is malty, fruity, chocolaty, some bourbon notes. Similar taste. Great stuff! marcus (10560) - Sacramento, California, USA - AUG 9, 2017
On tap at Local Option. Pours near black with a nice tan head and a magnificent treacle and bourbon aroma. There is a full-bodied dark molasses flavor with some chocolate and a warm bourbon trail. mariuspoenari (2954) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - JUL 16, 2017
Dark brown pour with a thin tan head - looks a bit light for an imperial stout. But as soon as it’s poured into a glass, a rich bourbon aroma fills the room. Great stuff - bourbon, rye whiskey, quite a bit of oak, vanilla, burnt caramel, toffee, a bit of maple syrup, rich espresso, a bit of dark cherry bitterness and just a hint of dark chocolate. Still a bit light bodied for the style, could do with more roastiness and maltiness, but a very solid beverage nontheless. commonshawn (1311) - Minnesota, USA - JUN 24, 2017
Tap at rumpus room in Milwaukee during glbtq. Small pour. Brown black with small white head. Boozy nose with dark fruit. Some peat. Sweet, booze, dark fruit. Bourbon doesn’t overpower. This is terrific. Iphonephan (7190) - Jackson Hole/McLean, Virginia, USA - JUN 15, 2017

Bottle. Black colour with small beige head. Bourbon and chocolate aroma. Sweet, bourbon, chocolate and vanilla taste. Medium to full body. tryemallonce (28) - Minnesota, USA - APR 11, 2017
Aroma is mostly chocolate and alcohol. Taste is similar. Appearance is dark brown with a very fizzy head the dissipates quickly. Fairly light body. Not as rich and creamy as you would want a barrel aged stout to be. No lacing whatsoever. Not up to Central Waters standards in my opinion.
