Sample at Great Taste of the Midwest on 08/09/2014: Hazy brownish-amber color with a medium light beige head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of tart fruit, yeast and oak. A: cloudy reddish brown with a thin, almost non-existent head. Lacing.
N: acetone, cherry, oak, glue, funk, and vinegar.
T: Quite sour. Some malt residue.
M: Medium body. Clings to the throat.

Bottle shared at GTMW ticket line then on tap at Craftsman the following day, pours a clear amber brown and with a thin head, the aroma was of sour cherries with a ton of oak and vanilla coming through as well, the flavor has a soft sour front end with with a really good sour punch in the finish, dry finish, mouthfeel was nice, oak and the bourbon shows in the finish too but mixes well with the sourness. UPDATED: MAY 5, 2014 Aroma of vinous sour, vanilla, oaky and dark fruit. Really a fantastic aroma. Taste does not quite match the aroma but is still good. Whiskey like flavor comes through in the flavor more than the aroma. Not as sour as aroma made me think it would be. Maybe 4 or so of 10 vinous. Whiskey flavors and oaky wood come through more over time, balanced by the dark fruit and vinous sour. Slight watery palate for a sour of its caliber. Really a good sour but a notch below the best. Had a glass of this at the brewery. Originally started off as my dad’s beer, but after a sip, he couldn’t handle the sourness. I didn’t mind it. I enjoyed the the very tart cherry flavors and the mild aroma of bourbon and alcohol. Maybe not something I could drink a lot of, but the 8oz I had in my glass was just right.

Bottle... Pours lightly hazy and deeply amber with no head. The aroma is a tangy, fruity mélange of apricot, plum, white oak and vanilla. Pour at Autumn Brew Review. Glad I got to try this one! One of the top 4 sours I tried that day. Cherry with just a hint of sulfur in the nose. Excellent sourness and funk with a touch of sweetness from the cherry in the taste. Would like a bottle of this sometime to share!
