This crisp, zesty American Pale is characterized by the sharp bitterness missing in many domestic pale ales. The clean finish and slight fruity notes help make our flagship brew a delightful treat.

nose of light resin. appearance is strictly blonde. flavor is of pine and well bittered for the style. excellent malt background comes to light late in the game. hard to distinguish such balance and still have good hop character in an APA, so many fail. palate is thin and nearly watery. overall hops are prevelant enough as described in the commercial description (addressing a gripe i have verbalized before) but palate seems to fail. still quite drinkable.

Originally reviewed: 12/27/09. Poured into a mug. Pours a clear dark orange with a thin off-white head on top. Retention was lacking. Left very little lace. Scents of earthy hops, light orange, and biscuits. Full crisp body. Flavor was a little harsh and overly spicy. Bitterness was lingering and charring. This wasnt the best representation of the style. It was decent, just not my thing.

I found this APA to be a bit thin in mouthfeel for my tastes, but it had a rather pleasant floral quality that I enjoyed and found to be somewhat unique among APAs. The appearance of this beer was ugly. Head was nice, white, fluffy, and plentiful. However, the body of this beer was an inconsistent color from top to bottom (sort of gold on bottom, sort of rust on top). Aroma was hoppy, but rather rosey floral more than it was piney, citrus, or grassy. Flavor was pretty decent...a perfume-y floral taste with a mild amount of bitterness. Mouthfeel was a bit thin I thought. It seems like everyone in the world makes an IPA/APA/DIPA, and as a result, there are many bad ones. This beer is not one of those, and offers a somewhat unique floral character that makes it worth recommending.

Bottle picked up at a Binnys by a good friend. Pour is slightly cloudy amber, with a cloudy head that recedes to a thin layer with lots of legs on the side walls. Aroma is, well hops quite obviously, sweet malt too. Tastes hop bitter, but it also has an element of soapiness too. Good , but not my favorite of the style.

Man, this is going down a lot smoother and tasting a lot better then the half dozen PBRs I had at the bar. Good stuff, but almost taste more like an IPA.

Pours a slightly hazy lemon yellow with a fair layer of white head. Aroma is mild bread and caramel. Flavor is a mix of salty and sweet with malty hop notes. Body is light with medium carbonation.

Pours a pale golden yellow. Some small lacing left on my glass. Aroma is caramel and floral hops. Flavor is loaded with caramel sweetness and some hop bitterness in the finish. Rather unimpressive.

Bottle. Pours a pale slightly hazy yellow color with medium head. Flavor is soft and malty, slight bread notes. Hop presence is zesty and slightly fruity. Medium bodied, the softness of the water comes across nicely. Nice session brew here.

Dark amber with a slight haze and a medium sized, foamy head. Aroma is kind of a musty, floral scent. Flavor is earthy perfume and a bitter backbone with a smooth finish. A little different from most APAs but not bad.
