Originally reviewed: 12/27/09. Poured into a mug. Pours a clear dark orange with a thin off-white head on top. Retention was lacking. Left very little lace. Scents of earthy hops, light orange, and biscuits. Full crisp body. Flavor was a little harsh and overly spicy. Bitterness was lingering and charring. This wasn’t the best representation of the style. It was decent, just not my thing.

Bottle picked up at a Binny’s by a good friend. Pour is slightly cloudy amber, with a cloudy head that recedes to a thin layer with lots of legs on the side walls. Aroma is, well hops quite obviously, sweet malt too. Tastes hop bitter, but it also has an element of soapiness too. Good , but not my favorite of the style. I found this APA to be a bit thin in mouthfeel for my tastes, but it had a rather pleasant floral quality that I enjoyed and found to be somewhat unique among APAs.
The appearance of this beer was ugly. Head was nice, white, fluffy, and plentiful. However, the body of this beer was an inconsistent color from top to bottom (sort of gold on bottom, sort of rust on top). Aroma was hoppy, but rather rosey floral more than it was piney, citrus, or grassy. Flavor was pretty decent...a perfume-y floral taste with a mild amount of bitterness. Mouthfeel was a bit thin I thought.
It seems like everyone in the world makes an IPA/APA/DIPA, and as a result, there are many bad ones. This beer is not one of those, and offers a somewhat unique floral character that makes it worth recommending. jbuzz (830) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 8, 2009
Nice color and good somewhat slim head. But bitter and not enjoyably so. a Think creamy feel that i did not like. TheDean (786) - MIlwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 30, 2004
Man, this is going down a lot smoother and tasting a lot better then the half dozen PBR’s I had at the bar. Good stuff, but almost taste more like an IPA.

Pours a slightly hazy lemon yellow with a fair layer of white head. Aroma is mild bread and caramel. Flavor is a mix of salty and sweet with malty hop notes. Body is light with medium carbonation. mattyb83 (737) - Minnesota, USA - APR 27, 2010
Pours a pale golden yellow. Some small lacing left on my glass. Aroma is caramel and floral hops. Flavor is loaded with caramel sweetness and some hop bitterness in the finish. Rather unimpressive. WisconsinBeer (716) - St. Paul, Minnesota, USA - JAN 31, 2010
Bottle. Pours a pale slightly hazy yellow color with medium head. Flavor is soft and malty, slight bread notes. Hop presence is zesty and slightly fruity. Medium bodied, the softness of the water comes across nicely. Nice session brew here. twindadplus2 (714) - Wisconsin, USA - FEB 21, 2008
Dark amber with a slight haze and a medium sized, foamy head. Aroma is kind of a musty, floral scent. Flavor is earthy perfume and a bitter backbone with a smooth finish. A little different from most APA’s but not bad. noncaloric (684) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 18, 2009
Clear pale amber pour, large white head. Good retention and lacing. Modest grapefruit hops aroma. Flavor leads off with grapefruit, then into hops bitterness and a very bread-crusty malt profile. Lasting quinine bitterness in the finish, offset by a little bit of lingering tartness. Thin bodied, rather dry, refreshing.
