A robust, yet suprisingly refreshing porter, Mud Puppy is a favorite of dark beer lovers. Characterized by a thick, rocky head and luscious chocolate-like nose, the malty profile is balanced by liberal hopping for its style.

Notes of coffee and dark chocolate. Clear dark brown body with a medium off white head. Really enjoyed this beer. It was pretty full bodied with a decent amount of malt/hop complexity.

Tap at Cityworks with commonshawn and ladies. Darker brown into black with a beige head. Nose is more dark fruit like raisin with a hint of chocolate. Taste is predominantly chocolate milk with a very similar mouthfeel to a thin skim milk. Nice roasty malt quality with some bitterness. Maybe a little bit of a coffee characteristics toward the end. It suffers because of the mouthfeel...need a little bit more body. Good but needs to be trained a little bit more.

On draft at B-Dubs around the corner from the hotel on a work trip to Wisconsin. I love that CW is on tap, but I dont like this beer. The pour is a darker red color, kind of brown, with a thicker khaki head that falls down to a thick film leaving some decent lace. This thing just looks thin. The aroma is boring and basic. There is a hint of roasty malt and a light chocolate. More roast. Plain. The flavor is a little worse. There is a strong roasted malt and a light chocolate, but its really forced. Its a sharp chocolate that doesnt go with anything. The mouth feel is watery and light. The carbonation is thin and light and its just not good on the palate. The aftertaste is lightly metallic and just not good. Damnit Central Waters.
