Bottle share thanks to Homer321. Pours a dark brownish, black color, fairly clear. Aroma of coffe, roasty, choco, and mild booze character. More coffe and roastiness, good, tasty, yumm yumm.

Bottle. Tons of coffe in the nose. No sign of infection so far. Taste is about the same. Moderate coffe flavor not as much as nose would indicate. Solid booze flavor. Pretty darn good.

caramel, chocolate, roasty, coffee, vanilla, smoke, butterscotch, black, minimal head, white foam, medium sweetness, cocoa, coffee. drinking a 2013 so about a year on age. With a year of age the barrel character has died a little bringing out more of the chocolate left over from the coffee still getting quite a few coffee notes even after a year. drinks so easy a clean. creamy and chocolate. one of my fav. coffee beers. not infected whats so ever.

Bottled January 2011, so three years old. Didn’t pick up much coffee in the nose, but a mellow dark coffee flavor coffee comes through. Nice, well-rounded, flavorful imperial stout, but I bet this would be brighter and more impressive if it were fresher. Has that certain drab flavor of an imperial stout slightly past its prime.

Pours a deep brown without any head. Aroma of fudge and bourbon. Slight vanilla. Slight coffee. Taste is sweet with a roasty coffee taste with a slight bourbon heat. Medium thick body and a medium carbonation. Really pretty surprising.

Very little carbonation or head. Sweet, with nutty notes and flavors of coffee, vanilla, caramel, and roasted barley.

Having had several bottles of Founders KBS in the past two months I soundly place this beer in the same league. KBS is a perfect 100 this is a solid 90+ beer. Very smooth chocolate coffee taste not overpowered by bourbon. A bit thinner than KBS but a worthy beer that more than fills the void! A highly underrated beer. My selection has been on tap so I have not had the other issues people described. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from 2012, cellar kept. I believe this was also infected (previous poster’s comments echo mine). Aroma was OK but sour taste overtook any other flavors.

Bottled Jan, 2012 Reviewed 10MAR12 Pours a dark brown with a little cap and ring of latte foam. Coffee, bourbon, vanilla, graham, cocoa, sweet malts - great nose. The coffee is a little more pronounced this time. Flavor has a little heat on it with a hint of metallic tone; alongside are oak, bourbon, alcohol, coffee, dark chocolate and some burnt toast flavors. full, velevety body with moderate carb and a wet finish, long finish. Really a pleasant beer. I think the flavor is a little sharp, but it seems there is difficulty in balancing the bourbon with the coffee for them. The nose is certainly tremedous, the flavor is the primary downfall. 3/4.5/3.5/4.5/4 bottled: Jan, 2011 Reviewed 04MAY11 A: Pours a dark brown, but once in the glass, opaque black. Single finger mocha head falls nearly immediately leaving a thin sheet of the same. No lacing. S: Vanilla is the first thing I notice. Followed closely by coffee, bourbon (when you smell it, you know it), wood, sweet malt. No distinguishable hops. Some graham, cocoa, beautiful toasty tones. Very complex nose. T:The coffee wins. Lots of coffee, lots of bourbon, lots of coffee, lots of bourbon. Did I mention the coffee and bourbon? So, otherwise, a little bit of licorice, a little bit of an alcoholic fire, nothing like BCS, but there nonetheless. Hints of raisin as well. M: Much lighter in body than I had anticipated. Low carbonation. No resonance on the finish for me. O: I’m almost on the fence with this. It’s good. I’d love to cellar a couple of these. Man, I like it, I don’t love it, but I like it. My ratings are all over for this one. It’s so perplexing - like a hot step-sister. 3/5/4/2/4-3.93 Serving type: bottle 03-11-2012
