Best beer I’ve found in the US. I discovered it quite by accident and have been consuming for several months now. However, I’ve gained quite of bit of weight since I discovered so am wondering....HOW MANY CALORIES IN A BOTTLE OF SATIN SOLITUDE?? hopheadsbrew (142) - Illinois, USA - APR 18, 2012
Tan head. Pitch black color. Caramel toffee fruit alcohol nose. Roasted malt chocolate and coffee flavor. Surprisingly light. Long warm finish. civforprez (229) - Galesburg, Illinois, USA - MAY 24, 2005
My 200th rating! Had fresh at the brewery. Brewmaster Clint was a wonderful host, and many thanks to my future father-in-law for arranging the trip at his former student’s brewery. Dark, with a thick creamy head and a wonderful hop nose. Aroma of oats, chocolate, and raosted malts. Taste is rich, complex, and inviting. A little roasted flavor but coffee is the predominant flavor. Aftertaste has hints of chocolate, licorice, and a terrific balance of hops and malt. Mouthfeel is excellent. jebert (500) - Watertown, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 4, 2010
Pours an opaque black with a thick creamy tan head. Aroma is molasses and toffee. Texture is rich, hearty and creamy. Coffee notes hit the taste buds first, with caramel and molasses following. Sweet malt rounds out the taste bouquet. A rich, smooth, velvety stout that can be enjoyed alone as a banquet unto itself or paired with rich macademia nuts for a real taste treat. jonhall (62) - - SEP 2, 2012
4 oz pour at Radio Maria. Very nice. Immediate notes of toasted coffee. Smooth and not bitter. Dark red brown black

I didn't take any extra notes when I tried this beer for the first time but I'm gonna try it again and update my comments.

12 oz bottle thanks to Duane.Pours dark brown with a quickly fading medium brown head. Aromas are coffe at first, then it sweetens up to mocha. Flavors are chocolate up front with a really nice bittering hoppy finish. Really gives ths a bittersweet chocolate flavor. Good Good stuff. dogfishho (669) - Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA - MAY 7, 2008
Pours a "not-quite-black" brown color with a medium dark head that sticks around for the duration. The aroma is fantastic. There are notes of cookies, caramel, brown sugar, and coffee. The flavor is very rich, but not quite as super complex as the aroma. The flavors are similar as there are chewy malts, chocolate, and the characteristic roasty, woodsiness of stouts. The mouthfeel is rich and easy. Very nice texture. Overall, a fantastic beer. Best I’ve had in a while. reggaedog (7) - stevens point, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 14, 2013 does not count
I really like this beer, it was far better than I expected, really nice smooth taste, not as bitter as other beers I’ve tried. commonmac (1246) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JAN 26, 2016
On tap at Acadia with blondredhead. Pint glass. Deep cola brown. Tannish head. Aroma is rich and has a heavy coffee lean to it. Some chocolate notes too. Mouthfeel is smooth and velvety with nearly a light chocolate milk feeling. Taste has warm chocolate undertones with a ever present coffee characteristic. Little bit of a peat element bringing to mind bourbon. Really enjoyable warmth to this beer with a roasted malt nuttiness that I’m loving. This one surprised me. Very, very good.
