Sometimes the simplest answer is the right one. Dry, toasty flavors from traditional brown malt supported by a sweet fullness from oats and traditional Scottish malt.

On tap at First Draft. Clear, bronze color, with a small, cream colored head. The nose is tobacco, light earth, pumpernickel, and syrup. Sweet and roasted, with a mild and pleasant bitterness. Light to medium body, sticky, astringent, and grainy. This is a solid and tasty brown.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong roast, cocoa, bread. Medium body, cocoa, roast, light dry finish, good.

(En fût à la source): Un bouquet de brown malt généreux, un pincement d’acidité et une impression de cidre. Intéressant.

Pretty good brown. Somewhat earthy and nutty. Had some chocolate malt presence, pretty hefty mouthfeel. Solid.

Draft. Pours a thin, light beige head, over a slightly hazy brown (SRM 20) body.......nose is cocoa, chocolate, light herbal hops......taste is cocoa, chocolate, light toffee/caramel, light nuttiness, finishing with mild noble hop bitterness.....mouth feel, light of medium body, no alcohol, moderate carbonation. This is a pleasant beer, but it needs more toffee/caramel notes to meet the style. More caramel/crystal malts would help BJCP 6/2/12/4/5

On tap at Cerebral poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of roasted malt, earthiness, bakers cocoa and light coffee. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of cocoa and earthiness with a smooth dry lingering cocoa finish.

On tap at the brewery. Pour is murky brown with a small white head - really looks like sewage water. Roasty, bready, some coffee, brown sugar, toffee and plums in the aroma. Taste is toasted malty, some coconut, coffee, cocoa beans, earthy and toffee with a lightly bitter finish. Full body with medium carbonation. Pretty tasty actually - I was a bit afraid to try this one because the appearance is off putting.

Murky opaque deep copper/brown, very light ring of foam on top. Lovely aroma with some nutty chocolate, almond, brown malt, and a touch of earthy tones. Nice full flavor with almond and cocoa and earthy chocolate sweetness, and a lot of brown malt biscuitiness. The nuttiness refrains it from being overly chocolate sweet.
