"Super Bock Stout is a black beer, produced from special malts which give it a distinct flavour and aroma, and a long-lasting creamy head. It differs from the other black beers on the market because it is richer in extract, more full-bodied and with a more complex (almost fruity), not-so-roasted taste and aroma."

Bottled from supermarket in Albufeira, Portugal. Black appearance, small brown head. Malty nose, caramel, roasted, some liquorice. Very sweet flavor, lots of liquorice, some malts. Little bit bitter in finish. Seems like the Portugese equivalent of Dutch oud bruin. I like it, though it seems closer to a sweet stout than a dunkel.

The beer looks nice. The color of the beer itself is very dark brown, almost black. Strong light reveals a hint of ruby red, but not as much as in other beers. The beer is quite clear. On top of the beer some almond coloured foam is formed. The majority of the foam disappears rather quickly, leaving a thin drape. The smell of the beer isnt bad. It isnt extremely strong, but there are some nice aromas. I smell some nice roasted malts, bringing aromas of chocolate, some coffee and caramel and some toast. The toastiness gives the beer a savoury touch. I also smell some red fruits. Nice with the roast. Some hoppy aromas are there, freshening up the beer, but the are scarce. The taste of the beer is pretty much the same. I taste some nice tasty malts, giving bitterness and sweetness and a tiny savoury touch. The sweetness of chocolate balances the toasty bitters and the hop bitters. All is in pretty good balance. Smell and taste are a bit watery for my taste. You can tell it is a beer produced in large scale. Craft beer stouts and schwarzbieren are more flavourful and aromatic. The palate of the beer is also rather mediocre. Medium light body and carbonation, rather thin and watery texture. The finish is a bit watery to and not that long. All in all, a nice interpretation of stout, but brewed on a to large scale. But, for a large scale beer it sure aint bad.

Zwarte kleur met licht bruine schuimkraag. Geur is graan, een tikkeltje chocolade en een bittertje. De smaak is graan, chocolade en heel lichte chocolade bitterheid op het eind.

Pitch black with a very short lasting brown head. Sweet aroma with some chocolate. Very flat roasty-sweet taste. Finish is very short, oversweeted. Not sooo good...
