Olho 10/7 2016. 50 cl can from minimarket in Armona. The simple red can with the circular logo. Pours clear pale yellow with white head. Settles as 2 cm thick layer of foam. Moderate lacing. Aroma of sweet malt, gastric odeurs and an unpleasant sharp sourness. Soft carbonation and watery palate. Not much to the taste other than too much sweetness and too little bitterness (you can almost talk about the Iberic curse). Some skunky unpleasantness in the aftertaste. Why on Earth did I buy a big can of this sweet gunk.

Fun times in portugal. Crisp, skunked to crap, easy sipping and refreshing but not much else.

Old rating rerated 04.07.2016, tap @ Kyoto na Ilha, Madeira:
Nice creamy mediumlasting head, straw colored. Aroma is mild and slightly dry, hay, paper, light malts, minerals, grass, hints of cardboard and popcorn. Taste is dry and slightly harsh, paper, hay, minerals, weeds, light malts, cardboard, metal tank. Medium bitterness, harsh metallic mouthfeel. Crap!

Better than sagres which is the other common Portuguese cerveja. It is one of my favorite beers in europe.

Ok, this is not a rateble beer, but I grew up with this classic portuguese lager. Pours clear yellow with a big white head. Aroma is manure or... rotten eggs! Almost no taste and should be drinked ice cold, otherwise its not even possible to drink it. I just had to rate this sometime and remember this was, and still is, better than the average portuguese lagers.

Very unpleasant aroma like some old eggs or something, bad alcoholic taste, generally bad beer.

Basic lager look, pale straw, clear, white frothy head. Dry dull, bit stuffy aroma, grain mostly, bit hay, cooked vegetables, damp cellar. Medium body, standard carbonation, short grainy aroma, not much nuances. Quite dull and uninteresting.

Bottle bought in Tavira. Grassy industrial smell but does the job - in the heat. Classic industrial macrolager, nothing more.
