COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Costa Ricans have been enjoying this beer since 1924. Imperial is created from a balanced formula combining malts, grains and hops, without a pronounced overtone in its taste. It is what is known as a “centralized” beer. Adapted to a warm and spring-like climate, Imperial is Florida’s most popular and widely accepted beer, both nationally and internationally, and has thus become the favorite beer of Costa Rica.

No retention and no lacing. Smells of sweet biscuit and malt. Tastes of malt and grass. Not offensive. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle, Total Wine SDL. Clear pale yellow. Initial impression was heavy wet dog but that blew off after some time. Sweet malt, cereal. Fizzy carb, funky malty finish.

Light grainy with a hint of skunkiness. Clear golden body. What little head arises soon fades. The taste is of mild grains and a hint sweet maltiness. Not much more than that. Drinkable.

Courtesy of Sebastian Yancovic Pakarati, back from Costa Rica. Clear yellow, big head fast-diminishing. Little aroma of all sorts of cereals, no hops whatsoever. Taste is quite watered down and simple. Bits of bready malts and a tad of corn syrup. High carbonation, light body. It's fairly refreshing. I guess it's appropriate for Costa Rica's summer. But nothing I would like to try again.

Draft at Criollo in Flagstaff, with a lime stuck in it. Really pretty bland, little character at all other than a light corniness and a very watery palate. A country tick, but not a good beer.

Can. Light golden color with a thin head. Light earthy musty skunk lager smell... tastes ok though. Sweet and malty. A little grass.

16oz can pours out a pale straw topped with a white head. Nose is sweet corn and some grass. Taste is more of the sweet corn notes and a light spice.

Can poured into pint glass. Clear light gold body with a thin fizzy white head. Aromas were enticing for a split a second while I thought this had a little nuance but I guess that all those complex lager aromas disippated very quickly, leaving behind a metallic corn beer nose. Flavor is beach lager at its core. Nearly flavorless apart from a little malt sweetness and a hint of hops. That said, I woke to black-mandibles toucans in the tree outside our lodging and saw sloths in the rainforest today, so this beer also tastes like sweet victory.

At libf 2017. Thnx to Tinus for sharing ! Pours clear, wattery blonde. No real head. Smell is sweaty, full-on chemical maltyness. Taste is sharp, chemical malts. Bit dry, pointing probably at the used sugars ?

Bottle, bb end 9/17. Pale orange with a collapsing white head. Aroma of grain, corn, cardboard, some grass. Watery, carbonation is lowish. Very low on flavour - a little vaguely grainy sweetness, some cardboard, grass. Bitterness is low but actually stands out enough given the almost blank background. Poor mainly by omission.
