COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Costa Ricans have been enjoying this beer since 1924. Imperial is created from a balanced formula combining malts, grains and hops, without a pronounced overtone in its taste. It is what is known as a “centralized” beer. Adapted to a warm and spring-like climate, Imperial is Florida’s most popular and widely accepted beer, both nationally and internationally, and has thus become the favorite beer of Costa Rica.

Bottle 33cl. Clear golden with a shortlived white head. Malt and bread aroma. light bitter taste with a malty end.

Bottle, bb end 9/17. Pale orange with a collapsing white head. Aroma of grain, corn, cardboard, some grass. Watery, carbonation is lowish. Very low on flavour - a little vaguely grainy sweetness, some cardboard, grass. Bitterness is low but actually stands out enough given the almost blank background. Poor mainly by omission.

Can. Smells like corn and cheap grains. Taste is cheap grain and aluminum. It’s Costa Rica miller lite.

The national standard lager from Costa Rica, from a can shared by the Belgian Ratebeer crew in Leuven, cheers guys. Snow white, loose and bubbly head, clear pale straw blonde colour. Aroma of damp cloth, popcorn, melting plastic, overcooked rice, touch of withering grass. Neutral, sweet grainy onset, popcorn-ish, thin with medium carbo, bit metallic, thin sweet-grainy, corn-like ending with a plastic hint but no hop bitterness worth noting - if any at all. Bland and boring as any industrial pale lager, even below average for this most industrialized of all beer styles, like many other Latin American ones. Nice for a country tick though...

Thanks to tderoeck! Can sampled @ LIBF 2017. Very pale golden. Nose is stinky vegetable, cooked, massively cooked vegetable, paper,... Taste is vegetable, mineral, cold vegetable, spoiled, far too cooked vegetable, paper,... Really poor & unpleasant,... Cooked vegetable body. Yikes.

Can share @ LIBF’17, thanks to Tderoeck for the share. Dorée, col blanc. Arôme au nez moyen typique des lagers basiques, douceur presque de maïs se ressent, grains en dominance et houblonné à la ramasse. Palais est malté, pils, maïs, douceur latente et amertume minimaliste.

12oz bottle from Americana Grocery (Vienna, VA). Aromas of sweet grain, grass, light skunk. Clear gold with a quickly fading white head. Sweet, light caramel, white bread. Light bodied.

Part of a trade with CH-303! Clear and incredibly bright golden colour. Large, bubbly head that vanishes like a magic trick. Absolutely not "aromaless and flavourless" like someone already claimed, though what is there isn’t exactly great. Aroma is cane sugar and malt. Taste is sweet corn juice. But at least it’s a country tick...

Many thanks for this beer to CH-303.
