Puntarenus, Costa Rica: 29th March 2014. Once I had the regular Imperial I wandered over to the beer fridges and opened one up in the random corner bar we were in: inside I found bottles of this and a Pilsen, I grabbed both. Of the three beers this was the sweetest, but like them all it lacked oomph, true flavour/aroma/style/class or character. Just a bog standard thirst quencher in a hot country. A beer I drank in Costa Rica, which I poured from a 12 oz can into a pint glass. It had a clear gold, small foamy white head with short retention and light cling, with some rising bubbles. The aroma featured grainy and grassy hops, with a touch of yeast. Its taste was somewhat sour and grainy, with some bitterness too; a bit heavier than normal Imperial. The beer’s body was medium-thick, but not much mouthfeel, and it had low to average carbonation. The normal Imperial beer is superior in my opinion. dalekliz (925) - New Jersey, USA - NOV 8, 2012
Bottle. Pours a clear yellow with a big foamy head and lots of lacing. Sweet aroma, of yeast, malt, citrus hops, and sugar. Taste is crisp and mild, of yeast, malt, and a bit of bittersweet hops. Lingering light crispness. Refreshing and not bad. Lubiere (14151) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 18, 2014
A yellow blonde lager with a thick collapsing frothy white head. In aroma, grassy adjunct malt with mineral notes, light sulfur. In mouth, a rather boring crisp malt with mineral notes, watery and metallic. Can from Auto Mercado San Jose. mcberko (18979) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 22, 2015
Can, pours a clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out straw and cereal notes. Flavour is along the same lines - no complexity but leaves a residual sweetness. Meh - not beer intriguing.

Clear straw golden hue under a thin white ring of foam. Thin light aroma with barely a bit of cereal grain. Crisp bright light flavor that's clean and just a slight bit malty, gently cereal sweet and pretty bland. A nothing beer that's clean and delicate and boring. 12oz can. Clear pale golden color/ frothy white head. Dry pale malt, cereal grain aromas. light fizzy mouthfeel. Lightly sweet corn syrup, pale malt, cereal grain flavors--- mdnguyen (31) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 13, 2012
The pour: light straw-yellow, thin white head. Quite still after a few seconds. The aroma: hard to place, slightly hoppy as far as Tico beers go. A bit of a dusty note and some malts. The taste: medium bodied with a bit of acidity - very similar to Corona. Bitterness is pretty mellow throughout. The verdict: Overall, I enjoy the original Imperial. 12oz can and bottle. Poured a clear light yellow color lager with a small bubbly head with minimal retention. Aroma consists of light corn adjunct taste with no aftertaste. Very bland overall similar to the light.
