living in Honduras for over 30 years, Salva Vida has always been my favorite! oldstocks99 (1) - Sandston, Virginia, USA - NOV 27, 2001 does not count
Honduran beers are best enjoyed in Honduras. The unpasteurized (unaffected) flavor makes this and the other Honduran beers outstanding. The bavarian heritage and the top ingredients that they get from S. America make it better than even Germany could imagine. Some of the the Czech pils, of course, give it a good push. Never had the canned version. It has always been bottled. Probably why everyone says it tastes bad. The bottled version was excellent as of 2/5/2009. I was in Honduras on Roatan in West End at the Cannibal Cafe. Beer was really good. Makes American Beer taste like water afterward. Didn’t really experience any foul tastes, and the other three people that were with us liked it too. Must just be bad in a can. HopTsing (575) - Sandston, Virginia, USA - AUG 2, 2014
From the bottle poured a clear, golden brew with a thin white head. Aroma of apple cider. Light bodied with a buttery hoppy flavor.

This beer is too water. It has a great aroma (one of the best ones I have sensed), although the after taste is not so good. Would recommend to try it and judge it because I feel that this beer depends on the preference of each person. austinpowers (2832) - San Francisco, California, USA - DEC 25, 2002
The winner in today's 15-lager taste off, this was so smooth, yet fairly malty and flavorful that it almost dethroned Tropical as my reigning Central/South American lager champ. Very good. ordybill (1815) - Douglasville, Georgia, USA - NOV 6, 2016
Poured from a 12 oz can into a pint glass at the Taco Mac in Atlanta, GA. The appearance is a straw color with a small white head. The aroma is all grain. The taste was very metallic but the presence of grain was very heavy also. An average beer. ronaldtheriot (1976) - Laplace, Louisiana, USA - OCT 16, 2010
UPDATED: AUG 7, 2011 Salva Vida has a medium, white head and a semi-cloudy golden color. Carbonation is moderate, and the smell is of rancid something, and it has a bubble gum, yukky smell. The taste is of some sort of grain, and there is almost no hop presence to balance it out. Mouth-feel is moderate, and Salva Vida finishes semi-dry. I did not like this and would not care to have it again.
REVISIT- I had this again on 8/7/11, and it was fresh, roasty, easy-drinking, and pleasant. Apparently, the original sample was somehow spoiled. RJT
