[4542-20120621] Tap. Fishbowl roasted grains aroma. Dark brown body with a medium-lasting creamy mocha head. Roasted fruity grains flavour has a touch of coffee and light wooden but in the finish. Medium-full body. Great to sample, super light and drinkable like a soda. (6/3/6/3/13) 3.1

I tried this beer on draught on June 22, 2012 at "C’est What" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada for Ontario Craft Beer Week. The beer poured a solid cola brown/black colour with a thin white head. Aroma was roasted malt, molasses, and anise. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, and mild carbonation. The flavour was light molasses backed up by roast coffee hints. An alright starter for the afternoon.

Draught at C’est What Summer Festival of Craft Breweries, June 22. Pours dark brown with a lasting creamy tan head. Mild aroma has light molasses, sarsaparilla and sweet malt. Flavour of sweet malt, light chocolate, molasses and sarsaparilla (I doubt there’s any in this, but it’s what I smell and taste). Average bodied. 2012-06-21. Dark brown body with a nice beige head and light lace. 3+ Flavour is malty, sweet base. Toasty malt accents, hints at sugar and molasses if you look. Lingering dry malt, molasses touches. Toasty malt and what seems like a kiss of rye and maybe licorice? Mild aroma, toasty malt and whispers of something like licorice. 6+ Average palate suits the beer. Pretty decent. I’d like it a little more robust for my own taste, but it is quite flavourful for 3.6%, and suits the style. OCB Week Collaboration Night at C’est What, Toronto.
