COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The history of Cesu beer can be traced back to the thirteenth century when a beer brewery was founded right in Cesu castle. The chronicles of the year 1590 present evidence for the popularity of the particular beer brewery at the time. Due to the new factory in Cesis the new beer corresponds to nowadays demands while preserving the flavour of natural beer.

5.2% gold in colour with a good head, some malt in the aroma and taste, doesnt sound good but it was better than most lagers sold in the UK.

Bought online from some Russian supermarket in the Netherlands. Latvian pale lager with thick, regularly shaped, egg-white, heavily paper lacing and stable head over a cristal clear golden blonde beer with steady fizz. Aroma of soggy chicken corn and sweaty grains, rainwater, damp kitchen cloth, hints of sweetbread, freshly cut grass, raw honey, chalk. Neutral onset with an early sweetish side, clear corn, minerals, softish carbo for this style, very vague salty accent, supple, thin and somewhat oily maltiness in the middle, corn sweetish and maltose-like, very metallic, finishing the same but with a faint hint of grassy hops at the back with very superficial bittering properties; finishes artificially maltose-sweetish and metallic, otherwise rather watery. I had worse than this in this particular style, but not that many: this is below average even for an industrial pale lager, not even ashamed to show its heavily adjunct-laden character. A pilsje for the uneducated masses.

500ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Pale yellow colour, small white foamy head that dissipates quickly. Grainy aroma with some malt. Similar flavour. Felt like a light beer. Nothing notable to say about this.

Uhh.. quite a disaster in a bottle. One of the corniest rubbery brews I ver tasted, even beats mexican corn ales. Some grainy maltiness, corn, cardboard, rubbery grassy hop extract. Light sweetness, light bitterness. One time try for ratebeer.

Van de tap op de boot tussen ventspils en lubeck. Goudgeel met een witte kraag die snel weg is. Graan voert de boventoon met een hint van gras. Suf en zoet lager.

Can from Prince International Supermarket, Ashford. Clear pale gold colour lasting white head. Sweetish cereal aroma. Touch of cardboard. In the mouth the flavour is not awful, some cereal. Some lemon. Its perfectly fine. Why its only got a score of 6 I dont know. Not sure Ill go all Leighton over the score, but Ive had many more worse beers. OK premium lager. Oh and love the little foil cap on the top that protects the ring pull. Ive dropped my initial score from 2.8 as it got a bit too cerealy and pukey towards the end.

50cl can from my local Londis. A bright straw colour, with a loose white head that vanishes immediately; sweet grainy aroma, but also some sweet apples giving a cider like quality; sweet corn syrup taste; with a reasonable grassy bitterness; and a sticky finish. Just another dull lager.
