The history of Cesu beer can be traced back to the thirteenth century when a beer brewery was founded right in Cesu castle. The chronicles of the year 1590 present evidence for the popularity of the particular beer brewery at the time. Due to the new factory in Cesis the new beer corresponds to nowadays demands while preserving the flavour of natural beer.

Grumbo (3847) - Ipswich, Suffolk, ENGLAND - SEP 14, 2014
Bottle from Rasputin’s, Ipswich. Pours a pale golden colour with a decent sized white head. Light hoppy aroma. Medium sweet, average carbonation. Slight bitterness to finish.

Brainiac (218) - Riga, LATVIA - AUG 1, 2014
0.5l aluminum can. Weak aroma, some head but probably because of carbon dioxide injected although its weak on tongue. Weak hop sensations on tongue, but some strong feelings of it in medium lenght aftertaste.

MarkoNm (2890) - Novo mesto, SLOVENIA - JUL 6, 2014
Pours a quite pale golden color, topped with a small and quickly disappearing white head. A relatively strong malty aroma with some skunky smell present. The taste is quite sweet, lots of malts and cardboard feel to it. Slight bitterness in the finsih, but not enough. Too sweet to be really enjoyable.

ramboraffe (2257) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JUN 4, 2014
On tap. Clear golden with white head. Smell is sweet lager yeast. Taste is watery with low bitterness. Some malty swertness.

BlackHaddock (7586) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - JUN 2, 2014
Half-litre bottle found in Boston, Lincolnshire and consumed in my back garden on 1st June 2014, some 28 days before it’s BBD. I had been cutting the lawns and washing the car, so I thought I would reward myself with a lager: this is that lager. Typical lager/pilsner look, golden, bright, clean and clear, on top the usual white head, this one hung around a while, unlike most it this style/type and class. Grainy and semi-sweet in both the nose and taste. Refreshing and thirst quenching, again like most in this type of beer. Nothing wrong with it, nothing to set it apart from thousands like it around the world either. In short, a bog standard, if a little on the sweet side ’mass produced lager’.

zenkis (865) - Ogre, LATVIA - MAY 12, 2014
Pours very pale yellow with soapy little white top diminishing fast. Aroma - rubbery hoppy and awful grainy like those left from the mash after a few days. Oh, Cēsu alus, those grains usually goes to cattle. Also a bit flowery and grassy off-aroma. Taste - nasty hops bitter with light sweet, pale malt. Palate - light to medium bodied, a bit dry, floury finish. Bad experience.

mandaritto (247) - LATVIA - MAY 9, 2014
UPDATED: JAN 8, 2016 Economic, cheap beer. Aroma clear pale malts, a hardly unbalanced taste and aftertaste, dry aftertaste. Carbonation overwhelm taste. Not so bad, but nothing special at all

Vighals (4387) - Sørumsand, NORWAY - APR 12, 2014
Gul klar i fargen med minimalt hvitt skum. Metallisk, papir, malt og kornlukt. Lite smak, noe søt malt, noe bitterhet i ettersmaken, medium kullsyre.
