Voo Ka Ray (aka Vieux Carre’) IPA is a beautifully balanced yet Hop-centric Imperial IPA that avoids the extra bitterness found in many IPAs with similar hop levels & IBUs through the use of “Late Hopping”, which allows for the flavor and aroma of the hops to be prevalent without the extra bitterness found when using large amounts of hops. This allows the full bodied malt profile to perfectly balance the hops, which is not something found in your typical IPA.

On tap at 13, French Quarter, NOLA, 29.4.16. Clear amber with a white head. Soft fruity aroma, ripe mango and caramel. Sweetish malty taste with a little bit of grapefruit hoppiness. Medium body, smooth and a slightly bitter finish.

PanMarek (465) - Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 4, 2016
Strong, complex hop nose. Pours reddish golden with thick white foam. The hops are not as prominent in the taste and tend towards citrus at first then piney. The malt is well-balanced. Medium body and fizz. Slightly sweet at the end and rewards slow sipiing

Not very hoppy at all. Nose is more vanilla. Nice toasted creaminess and bitterness. Refreshing. Nice head. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

3fourths (9367) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 18, 2016
Draft at Courtyard brewery. Clear amber-orange with an average-sized head. Aroma impression is straight pine resin and grapefruit juice ala Amarillo and Centennial; malt is lightly cookie-ish and caramelly. Medium-full bodied, sweet, syrupy, resinous, goopy, etc. Your prototypical gross American IPA.

Poobah (479) - New Orleans, Louisiana, USA - AUG 29, 2015
Amber with a bubbly, medium head and a hoppy nose. Lightly-carbonated with a medium-thin mouthfeel and finishing with a mildly hoppy, herbal sweetness.

Chafunkta Voo Ka Ray IPA has a thick, frothy, cream-colored head, heavy lacing left on the glass, and a brilliant, amber appearance, with lots of suspended chunks throughout. The aroma is of pre-2011 hop resin (meaning, not the grapefruit/pineapple regimen), some metallic, and bread crust. Taste is of slightly metallic malt, bread, and very bitter hop resin. Mouthfeel is medium, and Chafunkta Voo Ka Ray IPA finishes semi-dry, boozy, and sip-able. RJT

Draft at Barley Oak. Hazy golden amber color, fluffy white head. Aroma of bright, fruity oranges and pineapple. Taste is bitter citrus and tropical fruit. Full and juicy mouthfeel.

Ferris (17070) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 27, 2014
Draft - Sweet grapefruit and a bit of caramel. Clear copper with a decent white head. Lots of resin and pithy bitterness. Well balanced and a bit on the sweet side. Pretty good, I just wish some of the grapefruit or pine was more prevellant in taste.

AmEricanbrew (7080) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - NOV 13, 2013
