COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular.

A traditionally robust strong ale. Reminiscent of rich fruit cake, the fruity overtones are counter-balanced by a mellow richness.

Handpull cask at the Coach & Horses, Thorpe Road, Norwich. Translcent, mid- to dark brown with a light beige head. Nutty, malty aroma. Typical of a good mild but nothing particularly outstanding about it. Sweet chocolate malt at the start of the taste, but it ends with a markedly bitter finish. A decent enough mild without a lot of character.

BlackHaddock (6796) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 29, 2013
Gravity poured pint during the 2013 CAMRA AGM in Norwich. Really dark body, deep ruby red/brown with a creamy head. Burnt malts ruled the nose and taste: roasted coffee and dark bitter chocolate flavours come into play early on as well. Earthy rather than rich or creamy in the body feel, depth of flavours good. Id had nothing but golden citrusy beers before this during this session, I needed a dark malt laden brew and this fitted the need in perfect style.

leaparsons (10219) - Wigston, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - JAN 27, 2012
Cask, The Salmon, Leicester. Very dark brown with a cream thin foam. Aromas are weetabix and chocolate with lactose and nutty notes. Soft roast coffee with pear and yeast. Flavours are sweet chocolate and raisins with roast coffee and spices. Herbal liquorice with earthy, smoky notes and prickly lemon. Dry and peppery on the finish. Quite oily on the palate. Very decent.
