Clear dark brown color with a small to small average, frothy - fizzy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, dark malt, sour malt, smoke - chimney notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft to flat.

Cask at GBBF 2010. A red brown beer with no head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt as well as a light note of sulphur. Black colour, small brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, toffee, fruits, wood and some mild brown sugary notes. Flavour is quite much the same along with some wood, liquorice and mild burnt sugary notes.

Cask at GBBF 2011, Day 2. Pours ruby-brown with a tight, foam head. Dark fruits and subtle dark malts in the aroma. Medium sweet flavor, some doughy malts and toast, dark fruits, hints of brown sugar. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Rich mahogany brown with a decent beige head.
Nose is biscuit, toffee, brown bread, light spice.
Taste comprises faint red berry notes, toffee, brown bread, tobacco pouch.
Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close.
