COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This brown porter base is loaded with tons of roasted malts giving it a plethora of flavors from coffee to chocolate to toffee. Coconut is added to the boil and to the aging tanks putting a tropical twist on this traditional style. Curlew is a mostly sand island secluded just far enough away from the main Chandeleur Island chain that it is almost untouched. There have been many a coconut found on the surfside of this little piece of heaven.

From a can. The coconut is a touch to sting and the body is a little thin but they are minor problems for me. Still a very tasty beer.

Can shared at a Yom Kippur tasting at Max’ place. Very dark brown with a beige head. Coconut and roastiness and a little bit of black olives in the nose, a little sourish, olives in the mouth. Light body, sourish finish. Not good.

Can sample at a Yom Kippur eve tasting at Max’s place. Thanks kerenmk. Dark brown to black with a tan head. Aroma of roast, olives, yeast, a bit of fruitiness. Sourish flavor with yeast, roast, fruitiness, faint chocolate note. Medium-bodied. Seems a bit infected, but could be worse. Also, can’t find any coconut here.

September 2016 - Can share at Leighton’s. Many thanks to LKS! As ’Curlew’s Toasted Coconut Porter’, 5.8%. Dark brown with a red hue, foamy brown head. Aroma is airy, treacle, sugary. Nothing much going on. Body is light, tingly carbonation, smooth. Taste is creamy coconut, treacle, thin chocolate, cola and a dry finish. Quite thin and basic, but fine. (3.3)

It pours a clean copper / brown color with a small beige head. aroma is tangy grainy with notes of malty caramel and molasses. Taste is also sweet molasses, caramel, biscuit and raisins. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, decent
