ThaiBev stopped production of Archa, Chang Beer, Chang Draught, and Chang Export in 2015. A new product, Chang Classic, was launched, with production shared between ThaiBev’s three breweries. The recipe was changed to include rice, previously only used in the domestic 6.4% version. It is sold as 5.5% abv in some markets.
"With its attractive taste and a price that appealed to consumers at all levels, the response and success of Chang marked a new era and turned a new page for the Thai beer industry. In 1998 Beer Chang was awarded the “Gold Medallion” at the International Beer Competition in Australia in the category of “Lager, Unlimited Degree”.

UPDATED: DEC 2, 2015 It’s signor Chang! Oh no. From a local oriental supermarket comes this not so great lager. Backlog from 2014/06/03.

12 oz bottle at Top Thai restaurant in Arlington, VA. Goes well with any Thai dish with a bit of skunk taste at the end. Nothing wrong, just good overall.

330ml bottle (Krua, Tallinn)
Extremely pale, tight persistent head. Sweet corny malty aroma. Papery too. Dusty corny sweet papery taste. Finish pretty nasty, papery and dusty, a hint of something metallic. The two best things about this are (a) it is a tick; and (b) I never have to have it again. Not even good accompanying a curry. Ugh, aroma gets more like milky baby puke later. Baaaaad.

Can. Light, light, light -- and a bit of a hint of hops and malts. No real aroma and very simple. Drinkable as a thirst quencher but there are many other better lagers, even macro lagers, around.

Had this in a bottle at Addie's Thai. Was pleasantly surprised by the sweetness of the flavour. Almost like a cider. Paired well with the spicy food. Not an amazing beer, but decent in the right circumstances.

I tried .33 & .5 L cans and bottles of the standard Thai lager beer. It has a good test and palate as long it's very cold. But it gets very fast flat... Especially the cans ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a clar yellow with a quickly dissipating white head that leaves lacing. Nose is strong cereal. Taste is slightly sweet with a slight bitter aftertaste. 11.15 (!) oz bottle BBY 6/29/16

* Bottle. Pours golden, clear, with white head. * Aroma is medium, sweet malt, corn, grain & rice. * Palate is light body, high carbonation, very fine bubbles. * Taste is sweet corn & grain. * Finish is moist & refreshing. * Overall sweet corn & grain.
