ThaiBev stopped production of Archa, Chang Beer, Chang Draught, and Chang Export in 2015. A new product, Chang Classic, was launched, with production shared between ThaiBev’s three breweries. The recipe was changed to include rice, previously only used in the domestic 6.4% version. It is sold as 5.5% abv in some markets.
"With its attractive taste and a price that appealed to consumers at all levels, the response and success of Chang marked a new era and turned a new page for the Thai beer industry. In 1998 Beer Chang was awarded the “Gold Medallion” at the International Beer Competition in Australia in the category of “Lager, Unlimited Degree”.

Gift from a friend, from a delicatessen store. It pours clear deep golden liquid, with a small white bubbly head. Its aroma is light, malty, with some grainy hops and rice. The taste is very singular: it is a malty beer, with some fruity hints (grapes) but it has a curious touch that reminds me of sake, given the presence of rice. It is averagedly carbonated, smooth and medium bitter. Interesting refreshing beer to give a try.

ClubGonzo (5683) - Bergen, NORWAY - OCT 21, 2010
Bottle. Pours a standard pale lager body with virtually no head. Smell is pale malts, maize and sugary hints. Taste is pretty average "international lager"-style, fair enough but no big thrills to be found here. A bit sweet. No real faults on this one, just generally boring.

RobertDale (6988) - Lansing, Kansas, USA - OCT 9, 2010
33 cl.bottle. Pours darker than most lagers, average white head. Aroma of grain and malt. Tastes the same as the aroma with a tiny bit of hops. Average at best.

RickRob925 (60) - Macclenny, Florida, USA - OCT 8, 2010
Very heavy beer, but so heavy it’s extremely smooth going down. One thing that will catch you off guard is that going down it tastes pretty unique, but the after taste (palate) tastes something like an American light beer. It does carry the color of a American light beer but the aroma smells rich.

Pour is a clear yellow with almost no head. Aroma is nothing. I guess you can always say grassy with these lagers. Flavor has a little more body to it but not much. Probably refreshing in hot as hell Thailand but otherwise a boring lager.

12 oz bottle at Hot Basil Thai in Overland Park, Kansas. Pour is clear golden yellow with not much of a head. Aroma is mostly clean sweetish malt. Taste is malty, quite sweet - apple fruit and ripe grapes. Palate is thin to medium, high carbonation level. Decently clean, seemed free of adjuncts (description lists rice, I did not detect it much).

jtodd5dot1 (44) - Marina, California, USA - SEP 23, 2010
Poured a slightly umber brownish with a slight reddish. Head was light tan, off whitish. Flavor was a bit spicy, but full and not much aftertaste. Aroma was limited, and not over baring.

Holy (897) - GERMANY - SEP 21, 2010
0.33 L bottle from Thai Orchidee outside Dudledorf. Golden yellow with no head and moderate carbonation. Citrus and rice in the aroma. Taste is mild with overtones of sake. Interesting.

Bottle from the World Beer Festival - Richmond on 09/12/2010. Very clear golden body with a medium rocky white head. Sweet honey and grain aroma. Sweet honey, grain and light rice flavor. Medium light body with moderately high carbonation. 4/2/4/3/8 - 2.1 Bottle from the World Beer Festival - Richmond on 06/20/2010. Clear golden body with a medium rocky white head. Sweet pils malt and light hop aroma. Sweet pale malt and mild dry finish. Medium body with moderate carbonation. 5/2/5/2/10 - 2.1

Tmoney99 (15137) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 17, 2010
Bottle. Poured clear pale color with a medium frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate sweet grass aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Light to medium bitter flavor with a medium bitter finish of short to moderate duration. Worth having once.
