ThaiBev stopped production of Archa, Chang Beer, Chang Draught, and Chang Export in 2015. A new product, Chang Classic, was launched, with production shared between ThaiBevs three breweries. The recipe was changed to include rice, previously only used in the domestic 6.4% version. It is sold as 5.5% abv in some markets.
"With its attractive taste and a price that appealed to consumers at all levels, the response and success of Chang marked a new era and turned a new page for the Thai beer industry. In 1998 Beer Chang was awarded the Gold Medallion at the International Beer Competition in Australia in the category of Lager, Unlimited Degree.

Pours a pale yellow color with a quickly disappearing white head. Aroma of bready malts. Flavor is very sweet with some grainy taste as well. Very drinkable beer, but too sweet for my tastes.

Poured a clear yellow with a white head. Nice aroma of pale malts with some sweet rice. Not too skunky. Less offensive than other asian lagers. Very drinkable.

330 ml can @ Thai airways. Golden body with a diminishing white head. Weak grainy aroma with a hint of sweet malt. Flavor is light and refreshing, a bit grainy and sweet malty with a faint bitterness. The mouth feel feels a bit fat and artificial. Drinkable, and somehow refreshing, but too sweet and totally uninteresting.

bottle. not much going on here, fairly straight forward pale lager that matches well to green curries.

Chang beer is neither bad nor good. Chang Beer goes well with sushi. Chang Beer is from Thailand. Chang Beer is fun to say. Chang Beer does not have any significant flaws. Chang beer does not stand out. Chang Beer.

Pale gold, with right white head, fine but with medium bubbles in the center of glass. Nice perlage. The head isnt so much persistent, but not too bad. Aroma is strange... Light malt (honey-like), but with something not well identified. Something like plastic, or solvently, with sweet hints of rice cake. So strange, very bad. Horrible, artificial. Taste is quite better, almost normal for a low price lager. Light malt, for first, with some grassy hop. Very watery, inconsistent.

Bottle. Pours a clear and light amber beer with a weak white head. The aroma is malt and hops with grass. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is bitter. Overall a boring and pointless beer.

bottle at Baan Thai in Fort Wayne - Pours pale yellow and fizzy. It has a light, grainy aroma. It tastes of sweet, grainy malt with rice and a little bit of dryness in the finish. Its light bodied, bland, and quite poor.

Appearance: light gold, no head, no lacing. Aroma: not much; some lightly sweet caramel malts? Taste: again, not much; slightly sweet, slightly grainy. Finish: very short--a little crisp carbonation, then gone. Notes: absolute swill, and I like a good lager. This was not a good lager. At least I can put a pin in Thailand on my beer map.
