ThaiBev stopped production of Archa, Chang Beer, Chang Draught, and Chang Export in 2015. A new product, Chang Classic, was launched, with production shared between ThaiBev’s three breweries. The recipe was changed to include rice, previously only used in the domestic 6.4% version. It is sold as 5.5% abv in some markets.
"With its attractive taste and a price that appealed to consumers at all levels, the response and success of Chang marked a new era and turned a new page for the Thai beer industry. In 1998 Beer Chang was awarded the “Gold Medallion” at the International Beer Competition in Australia in the category of “Lager, Unlimited Degree”.

Bottle in a Thai restaurant in London. The meal was extremely average and the beer arguably worse. Light golden colour, no real carbonation, no hop, horrid vegetable cloying adjunct crap malt. I’ve had worse beers but not many.

Light aroma. More grainy that the usual lager. Some sweetness. Crisp and refreshing. Pours pale golden with a white head. Taste is rounded, yet crisp. Malts and grain.

Bottle at Thai restaurant, Eastbourne. Slightly sweet and spicy beer with decent finish. Remember this as a treat on a warm day in Thailand.

Shared 11.2 oz. bottle. Straw color, very small white head. Aroma and taste of corn, grains, cardboard, grass. A below average pale lager, but not the worst I’ve had.

Aroma: odd sweet/corn smell; not good; Appearance: clear golden pour with momentary head; Taste: standard macro pale lager; Palate: light bodied with corn/rice finish; Overall: good enough for a Thailand tick I guess.

Noble hop hay and citrusy on the nose, higher light malt/grainy sweetness, very light bitterness. Balance towards malt, not as refreshing.

Had it from a bottle. Clearly an industrialized beer, with little personality. On the Lager scale is not so bad. Better served ice cold. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Not sure when this was retired - I just picked up a single from Corks & Kegs in Richmond. It’s definitely bottled as Chang Beer. Pours golden with a small white head. Aroma of corn chips (and shit, now I have a Fritos craving). Flavor is pretty bad... envelope glue, the mint kinda even, along with corn, rice water, and paper. I can’t give this above an overall 1 - the flavor of this is beer is one of the worst I’ve had in my mouth.
