Description: Since many decades, the brewers of the Senne valley are brewing Lambic. In the 19th century they have created several fruit beers. The cherry beer on base of Lambic was the first or one of the first. The Chapeau Kriek is made on base of Lambic, a artisanal traditional product which ripe on oaken barrels. The Chapeau Kriek is a fresh and delicious beer for delightful moments.

Pours matte red with a small redish head. Nose of cherry and sour apple. Aroma and taste of the same. No depth, very sweet, not balanced, and the aroma is quite synthetic. Still enjoyable, although not so much for lovers of beer. This is glorified pop/soda.

Rouge très voilée, courte mousse rosée, aérée. Faible tenue. Nez sucrée, sirop. Bouche sucrée, sirop de fruit, légère acidité. Note de sucre candi, sirupeuse typique des De Troch. Texture quasi huileuse. Kriek industrielle fort sucrée.

From old tasting notes. Opaque reddish brown color. Creamy pinkish white head. Sweet cherry pie malt aroma. Tangy, sour cherry flavor is pronounced, yet tasty. Soft, sweet and sour malt finish.

Pours a clear reddish color with minimal pinkish head. Cherries, oak, and some light funk on the nose; follows onto the palate. Light bodied. Finishes with a little sweetness, nice cherry flavor, and some oak wood.

Wazig rood bier met roze schuimkraag. Geur: maraschino kersen. Smaak: zoet, kersen. Dit bier doet me aan een klassiek aperitief hapje denken: een prikkertje met kaas en een maraschino kers. Niet echt lekker, het bier ook niet.

[9/26/16] Bottle at a public park in Antwerpen. Nice deep red with a pinkish head. Aroma of candy-ish cherries, oxidation notes. Sweet flavor with cherries, candy-ish, with mild tartness. Medium-bodied. Sweet and sugary, but decent.

Bei Beer Planet in Brüssel als Flasche gekauft. Rötlich-Braun, wenig Schaum. Aroma Sauerkirsche. Geschmack- wie Kirschsaft, dünn, geht schnell durch den Mund. Sehr süß.

Sample at SBWF 2016. Red with a small head. Sweet with cherries, almonds and some light oak. Not that sour. Drinkable but sweet.

bottle @ home, 3 years. Cloudy pink color with a tiny pinkish head. Aroma is moderately sweet and dry with notes of sweet cherries, syrup, red berries, dust. Taste is dry with sweet cherries, lemon, syrup, red berries. Lemon sour mid taste. Slightly tart finish with lingering lemon and almond.

2.3
deanso (10129) - Chiang Mai, THAILAND - JUN 17, 2016
bottle shared at the June THT. No head. Murky pink/red pour. Smells like cough medicene. Dreadful.

Maakun (5548) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - JUN 17, 2016
Bottle at THT. Murky dark pink with no head. Looks like tomato juice. Massive sweet cherries, sour red berries, dough, light puke, soft balsamico. Over medium sweet and light sour. Medium bodied with barely any carbonation. Weird and bad, but better than most Chapeaus.
