COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A West Coast-style hoppy red ale, brewed by an East Coast brewer who always looks to the afternoon horizon for inspiration. Aromas of hop-derived grapefruit and pine, along with malt-derived caramel. Flavors of more citrus and pine, with a balancing, pleasant malt sweetness.

On tap at the brewpub. Westward Gaze is a reddish amber beer with a tight head of white foam. The nose is fairly rich of pine and herb hop aroma. The taste is medium malt providing a nice base for some moderate hop presence to work. the body is mediumly lively.

Draft. Pours a darker copper to amber with a white head of foam. The aroma has lots of grapefruit and herbal notes behind a crackery, bready, backbone. Taste is sweet and bready up front but moves on to a nice bitter finish that rounds the beer out nicely.

On tap sample at Charleston Brewing Company. Pours light amber with fluffy beige head. Really nice lacing, medium body, medium carbonation, and light hop aroma. Taste is grapefruit and nice caramel malt. Not heavy and really good for the style.
