Aroma:Tons of sweet, delicious chocolate aroma on this one. There’s some malt in there too, but I don’t smell any Belgian aromatics.
Appearance:Black and opaque. Nice amount of tan head that doesn’t stick around very long. Amazing lacing.
Taste:The flavor does taste like a Belgian quad on the foretaste. It has the spicy notes that I expect from a Belgian. There is chocolate in there, but it’s actually pretty mild. The midtaste has some great sweet malt and caramel notes. In the aftertaste, the chocolate really shines through.
Palate:Amazingly thick body on this one, very creamy. The low to medium carbonation fits well with the style. There’s some alcohol heat on the back end.
Overall:This is a fantastic spin on a Belgian Quad. The chocolate could easily overwhelm a beer like this, but the backbone of the beer still makes itself known. craftbeerdesign (2254) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUN 18, 2011
bomber thanks to thebeersommelier. pours black with a 1/4" tan bubbly head. lovely nose with the perfect amount of chocolate, layered with tiramisu, dark fruits and vanilla. medium body with a smooth character throughout. again, the perfect blend of chocolate and dark fruit with light Belgian yeast notes. vanilla, light coffee and cream come forward with the alcohol well hidden. sweet sugary finish with milk chocolate and candy covered dark fruits. excellent! ads135 (4607) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - MAY 3, 2015
A really good dessert beer. More chocolate than quad, but there is some nice slick spicyness here. Hints of dark fruit behind the dominant chocolate. Tried at the Parkville microbrew fest in 2015. daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - MAY 29, 2011

Bottle… This beer rocks!… Pours dark brown with a mid-sized, off-white head. The bouquet is quite chocolaty with additional notes of cola and dried, dark fruits. Full-bodied and mildly creamy with sheepish carbonation. Like the nose, the flavor is plenty chocolaty and sweet with loads of dried dark fruits. Finishes, sweet and chocolaty with a kiss of vanilla. Big-time thanks to phaleslu for shipping this world class beer my way! illidurit (2340) - San Francisco, California, USA - MAY 28, 2012
Bottle at the May 2012 iteration of the Santa Cruz tasting series. Well this is really chocolatey. Mainly tootsie rolls and chocolate syrup, but also a little like chocolate soda. Candied dark fruits make a minor appearance along with a bit of alcohol sharpness. Delicious in small servings. EtTuCthulhu (1391) - Columbia, Missouri, USA - JAN 11, 2014
The aroma belnds the smell of chocolate and caramel malts, and the appearance is an opaque black with a medium off-white head. The taste is mildly sweet and mildly umami, and these mellow out to be quite chocolately on the finish. The palate also fuses a full body, thick texture, and a soft carbonation. justsayswell (281) - Kansas City, Kansas, USA - MAY 14, 2015
Pour is a super deep mahogany. Half an inch of coffee colored head, gone quickly. Not much lacing to speak of. Nose is coffee, cocoa, banana, pineapple, dried stone fruit, bit of oak. Palate is lush, carbonated, and a little creamy. The flavors come in waves. First banana esters, plum and chocolate, then tart cherry and chocolate, followed by vanilla, more dark fruit, coffee notes, more chocolate, a little malty sweetness, and the faintest hint of alcohol. Really interesting brew. Terrifyingly drinkable at 10.5 abv. Ratman197 (14842) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - SEP 18, 2015
Bomber poured a clear reddish brown with a small lasting tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, coconut and light dried fruit. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of dark chocolate, vanilla, coconut and light dried fruit with a smooth lingering chpcolate finish.
