COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hoptimistic IPA(India pale ale) has intense hop bitterness and flavor. This ale is further characterized by fruity, floral and citrus-like aromas due to American-variety hops. This copper/orange hued ale has a nicely balanced medium maltiness which contributes to a medium body that goes down easy, leaving a lingering bitterness that is hard to resist.

This is a pretty disappointing IPA. You can always find something better than this. I want it to be better because its local to me but it isn’t very good. Almost no hop flavor or aroma. Blend of hops that you can’t tell anything specific. Bitterness is there but thats about all. Over carbonated in a six pack. Had on tap once before too and it was pretty much the same.

Bottle. Clear deep gold pour with tenacious white head. Aroma is nutty, woody, honey hops, light spice. Taste is bitter, malty, honey notes. Palate is med bodied with light carbonation. Pretty bland IPA, tastes a little old.

Had this from the bottle while in St Louis. Quite hoppy while malty also. 6.5% alcohol and 65 IBU. Citrus from the fresh American hops. F Avey---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle. 3 months old. Vile, putrid aroma...some infection has set in. Tastes nowhere near as bad as the aroma, but that alone is a killer. Weak stuff.

Pours an incredible golden orange color. Pretty cloudy, plenty of white sediment floating around. About two finger beige colored head. Some okay retention, nice lacing. Looks very inviting.

Aroma is orange. Lots of orange zest. Good amount of floral hops. I smell some sweetness, I’m guessing those are the malts. It smells a little honey like. Not quite what I expect from an IPA, but very nice.

Taste is very hop forward. It’s bitter, maybe even too bitter. I feel a bitter burn in the back of my throat. There’s sweetness from the malts, but the bitterness wins out, overwhelmingly. That orange zest seems to play a role all the way through.

Mouthfeel is medium. With the bitterness, it feels like it should be heavier. It’s quite dry, and refreshing.

Overall, it’s a pretty good IPA. The aroma and appearance hype it up a bit, but the taste doesn’t really follow through. Would I buy it again? Probably not. This one will stand out in memory because of the aroma.

12oz bottle, courtesy of gregwilsonstl, pours up with a crystal clear pure copper body that supports a light tan head of foam. The mild aroma offers up earthy grassiness, spicy woodiness, a citrus bite and then a wafer thin cloud of tropical fruit and floral hops. The taste begins with an array of hops producing a pleasing level of bitterness leading into thin streams of fruity juiciness. I get bitter grassy and herbal and spicy onion notes that quickly pick up bitter and juicy grapefruit and tangelo and just a bit of pineapple. This has a bit of a different hop profile than most and I’m digging it. The various bitter notes blend in well with the mild juicy notes that pop up from time to time.

Bottle from gregwilsonstl, thanks for the opportunity! Slightly hazy deep golden color large frothy off white head. Caramel and citrus pine aroma. Bready caramel flavor with a lingering resinous bitterness to the finish. A bit old school but not bad.

Good malty scent with some pine hops emerging. Taste is more of the same. Not bad, just not very hoppy at first. The aftertaste does bring in some hop bitterness, but it's too little too late. Slightly above average IPA. I really wanted to like this one. I can't say I have had too much that I do like from Charleville, which is a shame b/c I'm a MO resident. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Citrus aroma and flavor. Very easy drinking. I liked it. Appropriate body for an IPA.

An okay IPA. Decently balanced and not overwhelmingly bitter. Has some citrus qualities and a mildly resinous finish.

Out of the 12 oz bottle. The aroma is of citrus with a tad bit of funk. The taste is a hazy rotten orange with notes of lemon. The after taste is funky too. Just a run of the mill IPA, nothing stands out about it.
