Thanks to puzzl for sharing this gem. Huge thick pillowy white head that lasts and lasts over a luminescent golden brew. Bright citrusy hop aroma, herbal and grassy with a very bright spicy/lemony amarillo aroma. A bit of very herbal zestiness as well. Very bright fresh Belgian malt base. There is a bit of soft spicky muskiness in back of the brew as well. Spearmint aroma picks up as the beer warms a bit. Wow... an absolutely delicious brew.

Golden-orange in colour with a large very long lasting creamy white coloured head, excellent lacing. The aroma is yeasty, lots of citrus - oranges and grapefruits, pine and grass, floral and lots of hops. The flavour is of citrus hops, yeast, very smooth and creamy, pepper and other spices. Citrusy mouthfeel, medium body, high carbonation. Finishes long with some light alcohol, very filling.

Wow, this one sort of came out of nowhere. Along with thier Hibernus, these are some of the best beers coming out of Quebec. This makes drinking beer fun again. I can’t wait to stock up on this when it comes out again.

750ml bottle from the Marché Jovi in Gatineau, Quebec.
Opened on May 11, 2008.
Vintage 2007.

Hazy golden ale topped by a huge and lasting white head. Superb flowery aromas, notes of citrus as well. Almost full body, intense attack, largely due to high CO2 content, oily, amazing bitterness with loads of flowery, oily and grapefruity flavors, along with some yeasty profile (bubble gum?). Long lingering bitter finish on a very smooth palate and that finishes pretty crisp, no overly sweetness here, wich I generally dislike in belgian style IPA. Highly drinkable begian double IPA. Wonderful stuff and defenitely the best I’ve had from Charlevoix so far.

pours clear golden with a 3-finger white head, good retention, very nice lacing. aroma is fruity, apples, pears, sweet malts, champagne yeast, hint of spices, and an intense dry-hop profile, as if i was smelling hop pellets. fortunately, the hop profile is marvelous: dry-hop indeed at the beginning and finishes on some herbal and floral notes. micro-bubbly, champagne-like, so is the taste. balance of sweetness-alcohol and malt-hops is a masterpiece.

Sainte réserve 2010! WOW.

Orangey yellow colour with a thick and whispy head. Beautiful lace retention. Exceptionally bitter hop flavors bursting through the sparkling aroma of grass, citrus, and spice. Mouthfeel is excellent. There is a solid body to the liquid and the head is creamy and smooth. Bitter but not harsh, flavorful and malty but not too sweet. This is a divine brew.

UPDATED: APR 2, 2012 [2010 Bottle, nearly 2 years old]: 750mL 2010 bottle from Broue Ha Ha. Was very excited to try this one and it did not disappoint. Pours cloudy and gold with a massive thick creamy head. Citrus hops, spice, and yeast dominate the aroma. Taste is heavenly. Belgian spiciness and sweetness mixed with fruity hops, with a mildly bitter grapefruit finish. Very smooth in the mouth with moderate carbonation, and warming alcohol. Delicious stuff! [2012 bottle from LCBO, a couple months old]: Clear golden with a huge creamy white head. Terrific aroma of sweet malt, citrus fruits, spice, and bubblegum. Taste is wonderful: sweet up front with fruity hops (orange and lemon), and a delicate Belgian bubble-gum goodness. The 70 IBUs give it a great bitter grapefruit finish. A little boozy. Medium-bodied with a nice slick mouthful and good carbonation. Definitely better fresh!

Pour is slightly hazy yellow with white head, pour thanks to Aaron! Aroma has notes of nice fruit with pear and apricot, crackery bread with yeast notes, hints of spice and nice slight floral notes, pretty much a delicious saison. Taste is a nice mix of fruity pear, apricot, dried apricot, green raisin, hints of floral and slight biscuit, finishes fairly sweet but dries out nicely. This is delicious stuff, wish I could have this all the time.

I tried this beer on March 17, 2012 after purchasing from the Queen’s Quay LCBO outlet in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a hazy medium with a long lasting fluffy white head. The aroma is yeast, citrusy hops, and grains. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, and slightly champagny. The flavour is yeast, and notes of grapefruit. Very well done.
