Bottle at Grand Tasting, Ueno Park - RBJG#2. Pours a clearish brown with a yellow head. Very sweet with aromas of caramel. Some aromas of dried fruits and hints of chalk. Also some residual sugars. Medium carbonation. Full bodied. Dry and sweet finish with hints of roasted malts.

This classic English-style Barley Wine proposes sweet but never heavy caramelized sugars atop leafy hops and their balancing bitterness.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the hazy amber.
-The soft effervescence and healthy residual sugars make for a comfortable mouthfeel.
-Cereals are nicely laid out in the flavor profile.
-This is as good as the more renowned Ya-Ho Barley Wine.

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2013 Bottle in the park, RBJG2. Amber golden colour. Aroma is dark fruit. Taste is chewy, big body, liquorice, fruity again, full on. Boozy. Very nice. Re-rate at the Watering Hole birthday do. Red brown colour, small thin golden head. Aroma is Xmas cake, fruity, booze. Taste is great, toffee, dark fruit, sticky caramel. Treacle. Really good. Bottle at RBJG 2 Grand Tasting, thanks TimE. Light brown colour with a small beige head that leaves some lacing. Sweet plum, fruit aroma and flavour.
