COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly Chatoe Rogue Pumpkin Patch Ale.

The newest addition to the Chatoe Rogue series is Pumpkin Patch Ale, a beer made using fresh pumpkins grown in a patch that borders Rogue’s 42 acre hop yard. The pumpkins are picked, loaded into Rogue’s farm truck, driven immediately 77 miles to our brewery in Newport, quickly roasted, and pitched into the brew kettle to create a batch of Pumpkin Patch Ale.

This beer doesn’t taste like a pumpkin beer so much as it does an Oktoberfest kind of beer. It’s very autumnal and a little spicy, which is nice, but I don’t get much by way of pumpkins. Still very enjoyable and very smooth.

Copper color with a pumpkin spice aroma. Not a lot of carbonation. Sweet taste with some bitterness in the finish from the spices.

Pours a deep slightly hazy orange with a creamy off white head. Aroma has some subtle pumpkin notes with most of the standard spices, cinnamon, nutmeg. Flavor starts with the same, a little vegetable-y with some spiciness, a bit on the potpourri side with a sweet finish. Medium body and a soft carbonation.

Pours pumpkin pie color with a bubbly head, and has a similar color. Taste wasn’t what I expected. I wanted something candy sweet, but it simply wasn’t so. Not bad. Tasted of graham crackers, malt, roasted pumpkin seeds. Had a medium mouthfeel. Overall I’m not knocking it, it’s just not what I expected. The price is insane.

Pour a clear dark amber with a tall foamy light beige head initially. The head reduced in a minute or 2 to just about 1/4". The aroma of the beer was very good. The aroma was pumpkin pie. Nice scents of cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and graham cracker crust. The flavor was again pumpkin pie in a glass. The flavor was very smooth and slightly sweet. Flavors of pumpkin pie, nutmeg, and graham cracker. The finish was very mild and mellow with a hint of sweetness.

Bottled. An amber beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of pumpkin, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of pumpkin, malt, and caramel, leading to a dry spicy finish.
