Formerly Chatoe Rogue Pumpkin Patch Ale.

The newest addition to the Chatoe Rogue series is Pumpkin Patch Ale, a beer made using fresh pumpkins grown in a patch that borders Rogues 42 acre hop yard. The pumpkins are picked, loaded into Rogues farm truck, driven immediately 77 miles to our brewery in Newport, quickly roasted, and pitched into the brew kettle to create a batch of Pumpkin Patch Ale.

This is the year that finally made me stop saying that I dislike pumpkin beers. I guess I became a convert. Beers like Rogues Pumpkin Patch Ale are responsible. Fresh pumpkin is key, and Rogue Pumpkin Patch has loads of that. The spice notes from cinnamon and nutmeg fit wonderfully with the naturally creamy notes of the malt. Liquid pumpkin pie - yes, that deScription is cliche but its perfectly suited for this beer. Come on, humans. Lets make a pact to continuing to make pumpkin brews like this one.

From 22oz bottle to Sam Adams Boston Lager glass. Pour is a copper-brown color, thick off white head. Nose is cinnamon, malt, caramel, nutmeg. Taste is mostly sweet, light-medium body. Finishes smooth and sticky on the palate.

On tap at fresh hop fest. Pours out a amber topped with a sand head. Nose is pumpkin spice rich malts and some sweetness. Taste is more of the nice pumpkin spice notes along with a mello end.

One of the better pumpkin seasonals. Has a nice fresh taste of pumpkin, not overwhelming and not overloaded with spices or sweetness either. Nice flavour and balance.

Fresh 2015 Bottle. Poured into tulip. Aggressive pour results in a three finger head, which is fluffy and off white in color. Beer is a dark amber almost mahogany color. Good lacing. Aroma is on the lighter side. Some notes of typical spices and some pumpkin. Taste is lightly sweet with a dryer finish. Malty with balanced spice notes and some squash/pumpkin especially in finish. Average to lighter carbonation. Medium bodied beer. Overall this is a very good and well balanced pumpkin ale. Very enjoyable. Nice to know you are drinking beer from fresh pumpkins.

Nice vegetal pumpkin aroma with a slight bit of spice and wood. Crystal clear medium amber/orange color with a small but foamy white head. The aromas follow directly into the flavor, but the pumpkin comes out fully with a delicious flavor thats fresh, not cooked. The spices are right there but in perfect balance and strength with cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. Body is thin, maybe a bit watery, but it seems about right for this beer which without the pumpkin/spice would be a nice amber ale. The spices and pumpkin swirl around and finish out cleanly with lasting tastes of both. Light, well balanced and tasty, this is one of the best pumpkin ales Ive had.
