Poured from a 12oz bottle into a shaker. Aromas of coffee grounds, earth, fig, and dark chocolate come through with a touch of light grain. It pours a dark red brown color that’s nearly opaque with some floating sediment. A light, thin soapy white head tops the beer and it retains a medium ring with a fizzy surface. The taste is a medium sweet and medium light bitter. There’s a zippy carbonation to this oily, medium-light bodied beer. Roasted flavors of caramel, chocolate, and nuts come through on the palate and it finishes crisp with grassy notes. Mild notes of chocolate and nuts stick around in the aftertaste. deyholla (12590) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - AUG 23, 2014
On tap at the Mackinac Island Draught House. Pours a clear deep amber with a near white head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has notes of sweet bread and biscuit with a leafy backbone. Flavor has more of an earthy bread note with leaves and grass backing. Patrickctenchi (6812) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - AUG 10, 2014

Bottle. Buttery caramel malt and hay aroma. Cloudy dark amber with small head. Sweet caramel malt, straw and lightly bitter herbal/astringent flavor. Body a bit light. Not bad.

Very malty and sweet, not much of a looker or smell but decent beer at best, flavor is lacking depth jb (3454) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAY 9, 2014
Smoky peaty nose. Heavy malt domination. Thick and malty mouthfeel too.

From bottle. Pours an almost clear reddish brown with a small light tan head and almost no lacing. Aroma is faint with hints of caramel and roasted malts. Taste is mild, sweet, gently hopped, caramel. Mouthfeel is light to medium, lightly carbonated. This beer is understated but very nice.
