3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
The flavor is all sweet, sweet malts, but a bit watery. It is pretty good value for the price, but not one I’d seek out.
On tap at Pink Pony. Malty but not backed up with sweetness which makes it pretty thin.

16 oz. bottle. Dark amber/ near brown in color, fast dying head. Aroma is toasted grain, yeast, mild caramel. SHIG (4962) - Wasilla, Alaska, USA - DEC 25, 2016
The flavor is dark bread, toffee, and a very mild hop in the finish. Almost a fruit hint from hops. Very low bitterness. Sweet toffee ending. The yeast is present in the can. A bit better than I was expecting.
Poured a caramel brown with a thin tan head. Really malty with hint of veggie. Taste is water and malt, weird sugary finish. chucklemation (1684) - Royal Oak, Michigan, USA - OCT 11, 2015
Pours a dark, hazy amber with a thin white head. Aroma is caramel, toffee, and nut. Flavor is big on nut, with caramel and toffee also very apparent. Much better than I expected. Quite good. BOSSbrewer (2705) - Arkansas, USA - JUN 27, 2015
Can shared with Raith in his backyard. Pours a clear amber with one finger of white head. Aroma is malty and caramel. Flavor follows with some toffee slightly sweet. Nice beer.

Bottle pour thanks to drsilverworm. The beer is a clear amber color with a beige head of foam. Its kind of a musty, smelling beer with notes of toffee and a moderate spice. The taste has some sweetness and a dry bitterness. Maybe this example is past its prime, but it just didnt have much good going on. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 19, 2015
16oz can, purchased about a month ago from the Woodstock Wine & Cheese. Shared with friends 3 ways. Toasty, caramel malt nose. Kind of spicy. Hazy amber color. Thin white head, leaving decent bits of lace. Medium-plus body. Smooth, kind of soft carbonation. Kind of soft, crisp lighter carbonation. Kind of dry. Eh. Yeah, kind of carboardy. A whatever amber / altbier. Not smooth enough to drink on your own, OK to share I guess. Wonder how old this is? No date on the can I could find superspak (5596) - Michigan, USA - JAN 2, 2015
12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly cloudy ruby red color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, toffee, toast, brown bread, plum, apple, light nuttiness, light chocolate, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, earthy hops, and yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of caramel, toffee, toast, brown bread, light chocolate, light nuttiness, plum, apple, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Light earthy herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toffee, toast, brown bread, light nuttiness, light chocolate, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and complexity of dark/bready malt. earthy hops, and light-moderate yeast fester flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice altbier. All around good robustness, balance, and complexity of dark/bready malt, earthy hop, and light-moderate yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering. lana5 (62) - Canton, Michigan, USA - DEC 6, 2014
A bit of a bitter taste that mellows out. Has citrus accents. A nice red color and not much head. Not bad with dinner.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a shaker. Aromas of coffee grounds, earth, fig, and dark chocolate come through with a touch of light grain. It pours a dark red brown color that’s nearly opaque with some floating sediment. A light, thin soapy white head tops the beer and it retains a medium ring with a fizzy surface. The taste is a medium sweet and medium light bitter. There’s a zippy carbonation to this oily, medium-light bodied beer. Roasted flavors of caramel, chocolate, and nuts come through on the palate and it finishes crisp with grassy notes. Mild notes of chocolate and nuts stick around in the aftertaste.
