willblake (2654) - Bel Air, Maryland, USA - MAY 1, 2005
04.23.05 Tap at TAP NY. Black with thick brown head. Thick and sticky. This stout is very sweet. Too sweet for me, in fact. It’s pretty big and very sticky but I’m not in love with the lack of balance. Could use a stronger dose of hops or a more bitter roast. Kind of cloying towards the end but still drinkable.

Yup, that looks like a stout alright - a bit thin-bodied and flavored - kind of chalky mouthfeel - mild chocolate - pretty dry, slightly bitter.

Lubiere (13995) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 18, 2004
April, 2004. Deep black ale with moka head. Chocolate and hops in aroma. Bitter chocolate and fruits with a hops finale. Very rich bodied and satisfying.

CapFlu (5128) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 2, 2004
(Draught) Near opaque with a thin, quick dissipating, beige head. Nose of sweet cocoa. Nice body - somewhat gritty yet a tad thin. Nice coffee finish.

mkobes (2142) - paramus, New Jersey, USA - APR 26, 2004
Had it at Tap New York this past weekend. Dark in color. Roasty stout. Really good. Smooth flavors. Chocolatety. Great beer.

MaiBockAddict (1497) - Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA - APR 26, 2004
Tap NY. Once again, thanks to the brewer for bringing over a nice big sample for me. This is a big roasty dark smooth and drinkable stout. No off notes, just chocolate and dark malt bitterness.

muzzlehatch (4963) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - APR 26, 2004
TAP NY. Opaque black. Sweet/roasty balanced nose. Thick, roasty flavor, super creamy but very very dry; licorice and coffee predominate. Listed as a "Foreign Stout" on the board at the fest. One of the better beers of the day IMHO>

austinpowers (2831) - San Francisco, California, USA - FEB 25, 2004
2002 GABF Gold Winner! Heavily carbonated (overly so) for a stout. Lots of coffee and roastiness. Pitch black with some nuttiness. Enjoyable and rich.

3.5
Spiesy (2338) - Sydney, Greater London, AUSTRALIA - JAN 7, 2004
Draught, at the The Blind Tiger, NY.</br> When Spiesy & AustinPowers drank. Black with a supper dark pinky/brown head. Dark toasty flavour and aroma. An attractive and flavoursome stout.

Aurelius (5382) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JUL 8, 2003
UPDATED: SEP 2, 2003 Milky and coffee stout aroma. Very black, direct sunlight didn't penetrate very far. Fine granular tan head. Very smooth and lightly tannic. Medium char finish that builds and starts to hang around on the back of the palate. Good, but hard to believe this won its category at the 2002 GABF. Yawn.
