Amber color; creamy head; nice lace. Very nice aroma of sweet caramel, hop, pine needles and some fruits (pink grapefruit). Full mouthfeel, good malt, a lot of residual sugars without being cloying, powerful and aromatic hopping, both fruity and resiny. Excellent.
Tap at the brew pub, Chelsea Pier - 01/03/12.
Listed at the brewpub as 9%ABV and titled ’Hoppy Holidays’.
Mid brown verging on dirty orange in colour with a small to medium white head.
Hoppy citrus nose with sweet malt and caramel background notes.
Again taste is citrus but not mega hoppy, get a little biscuit and caramel and grassy notes.
Medium bodied and easy drinking for it’s strength. Sammy (12204) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 9, 2008
Enjoyed on cask at Cole’s Cask Ale Fest. Very rich and good (great) malting. This year’s edition is much more a dark Belgian and not an American pale at all. A great cask. jercraigs (10374) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 8, 2009
2008-12-06. Dark mahogany brown body with a smallish foamy off-white head and some lacing. Light sweet aroma of malt, muted spices. (7+) Smooth average plus palate is very lightly carbonated. (3+) Rather good. Touch muted at times but lovely overall. Cask at Coles, Buffalo JoeMcPhee (9426) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 16, 2006
Deep amber beer with light haziness. Fresh piney hop aroma over a soft sweet caramel malt base. Brown bread and a touch of spiciness as well. Warming brings out some peach/orange hop aroma as well. Flavour shows toffee, caramel, and other medium crystal malts. Light spiciness and pine flavour. A disturbing hint of diacetyl that I’m not a fan of, but otherwise a decent, if uninspired ASA.

Cask at Buffalo Cask Ale Festival. Pours Dr. Pepper red with a thin beige head. The aroma is fruity and floral hoppy, like an orange hard candy. The flavor is caramel malt, oranges, candy sugar and floral hops. Seems a little bit muddled, but really it is quite nice and drinkable. mabel (9246) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 10, 2009
[1887-20081206] Cask. Dark bready yeast and tea aroma. Clear, dark red amber body with quick white bubbles. Sweet honeyed hoppy bread malt flavour notes a heavy yeast. Medium body. Nice sweet and enjoyable, like the hops.

Keg at the tap, 20/02/14- 9.25% ABV. Mid-clouded honey amber with a cream cap. Aroma wet fur, grapefruit, papaya and peppery booze. Drinkable and mellow with unspecified tropical and floral hop; mandarins in jelly, peppery hints; underlying honey and biscuits sodden with Southern Comfort. Not bad. swoopjones (7020) - Buffalo, New York, USA - JUN 9, 2007
on tap @ Coles Buffalo NY . Medicinal & Herbal hop flavor with sweet malt flavor. Citrus hop presnece also. Pretty good offering notalush (5875) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JAN 28, 2007
Cask at Blue Point cask fest - apa you say? nay! - amber color out of the hand pump, with a rather large head that spilled over the sides of the glass, leaving a sticky residue, warning me to expect loads of sweetness - it was there alright, but the copious amounts of herbal hops kept it from becoming cloying - some fruitiness through the middle, mostly apricot and citrus - herbal tea qualities on the back end - dry, earthy hops throughout - this brewery certainly isn’t great, but their beers are severely under-rated.
