Draft at NYC Craft Beer Week Opening Bash. Pours hazy amber with an off white head. Bourbon barrel is right up front, with some fruity peachy notes, and relatively low hoppy bitterness. Really more of a barleywine. Not bad, but a bit boozy. nimbleprop (8382) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - OCT 17, 2013
Sampled at GABF. Pours an orange with some frothy, off white head. Booze nose, orange, caramel, honey, candy. Flavor has malt, pine, orange pith, caramel. Boozy finish. A little odd. Jow (3925) - New York, USA - OCT 9, 2013
Draft at Stags head. Surprised other reviewers don’t mention that this is bourbon barrel aged because that is pretty much all i get. Tons of bourbon flavors, caramelized sugar, piney, grapefruit rinds, herbaceous, and a fading sweet finish. Hazy golden coloured body with a thin just off-white head. Aroma of pungent hops with a nice malt note, some banana and pear sweetness and quite a lot of herbal and floral notes. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong assertive hops showing grapefruit, pine and a lot of herbal notes, complete with a good dose of alcohol, honey sweetness and some syrupy and resinous finishes. Aftertaste is quite potent, but not bad for the style - more hops and malt than the sugars, but nice and closer to an IPA than an Imperial IPA. Overall, a nicely balanced and strong, but drinkable Imperial IPA that borders on the edge of being a ’normal’ IPA. I sampled this 14 ounce pint on cask at Pony Bar in New York, New York on 13-July-2013 for US$5, as always! jredmond (8285) - New York, New York, USA - JUL 24, 2013
Draft at Pony bar HK. Pours an amber golden body with no head, thin white lacing. Aroma is pretty muted overall - light hop character. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of dry bitter resiny hop, sweet bready malt, faint alcohol and slight metallic flavor in the finish. Ok, but the palate brings this one down a bit.

Enjoyed at Pony Bar in Manhattan. More of a roasted malt taste for an IPA, I find it enjoyable. The beer is well-balanced and not too boozy for its ABV, so it allows the uniqueness of the roasted/smoky taste shine though. Not something I could drink more than one of, but tasty nonetheless.
