[4349-20120325] Tap. Coffee grounds and malty chocolate roast aroma. Black body with a long-lasting creamy light brown head. Bitter dark roast malt flavour has a long-lasting sweet coffee aftertaste. Full body. Wonderful. (8/3+/8/4/16) 3.9

Cask at Volo, March 25. Pours black with a large fluffy tan head and nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, lots of coffee, some chocolate, leafy hops and a hint of cream. Flavour of coffee first followed by roasted malt, leafy hops and a nice big bitter finish. Average bodied. Pretty good stuff.

March 25, 2012 - cask at Volo’s Beer for Boobs event. Ruby-black, opaque, huge fluffy tan/pancake batter head and huge thick sticky drapes of lacing. Aroma of green hops and herbal bitterness, a nice somewhat nutty roast body and hardly any alcohol to it at all. Taste - dry coffee, mint, no cream - almost burnt, really, building herbal bitterness eventually dominates it (7-). Slick on the tongue, average body, decent low-level carbonation, ends with a long carbonized treacle/grass finish; not sweet at all, in fact it’s quite intense.

2012-03-25. Black body with a nice tan head. Pleasant aroma over dry roasty highlights over mild dark malt. Flavour is similar, dry roasty malt over top, sweeter lightly fruit malt core, dry roasty bitter finish. Average bodied palate. Decent, I enjoyed this one. Not sure what makes it a "black bitter" as opposed to a lighter porter or stout, but it was enjoyable. On tap at Volo Beer 4 Boobs event, Toronto

On tap at Volo. Begins like a shwartz, with thick dark roast, above average mouthfeel, and exhibits a good 40 ibu bitterness. Excellent drinkability, hit the spot, and something I would go for again.Good black appearance, lacey.

Deep black pour. Off-white head. The aroma is full of leafy hops in addition to some nice chewy dark malt. A touch of herbal cocoa and some lingering bitterness. Solid bitterness. Nice brew.
