COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Saison is a classic Belgian style, not often seen outside of its homeland. It was traditionally brewed by farmers and their workers as a beverage to consume during the summer months. Bridge Road Brewers have crafted their own Saison to add to their Chevalier range. This beer is quite unique, light straw in colour, with a tight bright white head. Aromas are dominated by esters and phenolic characters, owing to the Saison yeast strain, which also gives the beer its characteristic tart, dry and acidic profile. This citrus character combined with grassy hop flavours make this a great food beer, try it with anything from seafood to blue cheese.

KeefOz (1925) - Tarragindi, AUSTRALIA - JUL 7, 2016
Poured a clouded pale straw colour with a two- to three-finger white dense foam head that retained very well and laced well. Carbonation high and fine. Aroma a nice mix of spice, earthy yeast and sourness. Taste of spices and moderate sourness/tartness followed by a slight fruity sweetness (oranges, apples); moderate hop bitterness. Light body. Crisp, soft, smooth and somewhat dry with a shortish moderate tartness and a very short crisp sweetness on the finish. Good even though this is not a style I look forward to.

On tap at Beer DeLuxe Melbourne, pours a hazy blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out notes of green melon, brett funk, and crackery malt. Flavour is similar, with lots of underripe green melon, citrus and medium brett funk. Not the most complex, but it works alright. Underripe melon notes dominate. Solid, but nothing overly extraordinary.

Dervock (1467) - AUSTRALIA - APR 23, 2016
Bottle - pours pale yellow with a bit of haze. Aroma is cereal malt, smells a bit wort like, bit of citrus and bit of sweetness. Taste is bit citrus up front then a sliw transition to a mild fruity dry lingering finish. Creamy palate.

Bottle. colour is accurate to marketing deScription.

Aroma. A general candied flavour on the nose with mainly flavours of bubblegum and watermelon.

Taste. immediately i taste bitter lemon which is present throughout the the tasting, backed by watermelon and bubblegum.

Overall. quite a good beer and hard for me accurately describe, though the marketing deScription does a good job of describing it.

Leighton (22555) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 12, 2015
Keg at Mother Kelly’s - London. Pours clear yellow-gold with a creamy white head. Interesting aroma, maybe some tropical fruity bubblegum, lemon, sugary pale bread. Medium sweet flavor with lots of sugary, lightly doughy bread, candied lemon, tangerine, more bubblegum, esters, watermelon, flowers. Medium bodied with fine to average carboantion. Lightly warming in the finish, very sweet, lightly syrupy, with more floral notes, yeast, bubblegum, white grape. Novel, but in the end it sits a bit heavy on the palate and just isn’t that drinkable.

Keg at The Hanging Bat. Hazy golden/amber body with a thin white head. Low carbonation. Light lacing. Aroma of grain, apricot and malted barley. Flavour of lime, minerals and tonic water. Thin body with a light texture. Soft fizz. Feels a bit unfinished.

3.6
RafeAU (628) - Los Angeles, California, USA - AUG 2, 2015
Tap takeover at the Durham. Nice saison, not much funk, easy drinking, finish is not so dry for a saison. Carbonation is only moderate, maybe it’d be higher in the bottle than on tap.
