An opaque red-brown beer with a long lasting brown head. The aroma is very roasted with notes of coffee as well as hints of chocolate. The flavor is also very roasted with different chocolate notes, among them bitter desert chocolate, but it also contains notes of coffee. And the roastiness gives it a dry end. Very dark brown, natural head. Aroma of coffee, bitter chocolate and some Rodenbach notes. Smooth body. Creamy. Milk chocolate and light toast. Sweet maltiness. Quite agreeable, unpretentious stout. Lubiere (13963) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 18, 2004
Tap. May 2004. Deep dark ale with a sustained moka head. Expresso aroma with floral hops, not overpowering. Dry powdery chocolates mouthfeel. A bit thin but still well balanced, due to hops. jercraigs (10591) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 1, 2010
2009-12-31. Black, large creamy tan head. Very roasty, dry aroma of coffee grounds. 7+ Flavour is similar, quite dry and bitter, ground coffee like roast and bitterness. 6+ Smooth average to medium palate. 3+ Pretty solid stout but far too roasty and coffee like for my own tastes. On tap at the brewpub

UPDATED: DEC 18, 2008 Lots of roasted coffee beans in the nose lead to a frank roasted maltiness and base cereal sweetness...A wildberry bush carcass seems to lay within this prevalent roast...

[2678-20091231] Tap. Roasted nut skins aroma. Clear, very dark brown body with a quick creamy light tan head. Little smoky roast flavour with a long-lasting nutty aftertaste. Medium-full body. Nice, drinkable.

on tap at brewpub. dark brown, ok-retention and strong lacing. very nice roasted notes, vanilla, woodsy, hint of smoke, light hopping, soft carbonation - nitrogen-smoothness. TaktikMTL (7822) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 15, 2008
(Rating #1670) Rastacouere (6177) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 28, 2005
Deep dark brown, not quite opaque, irregular dark beige head. Torrefied, highly roasty nose with coffee grains and slightly vegetal undertones. Tasty in mouth, the coffee tingles around the grainy, powdery cocoa, dry nature, mild herbal licorice hints, rooty. Good stuff, smooth low carbonation. Well executed. tom10101 (6138) - Quebec, CANADA - OCT 29, 2013
On tap @ Chez Gambrinus (Trois-Rivières). Reddish brown with a medium beige head and some lacing. Aroma is of nuts, roasted malt, caramel and light smoked notes. Taste is slightly sweet with nuts, roasted malt and light caramel. Light/medium body. Moderate carbonation. They were aiming for a creamy body, but that’s not completely achieved. Decent Sweet Stout. Drinkable. Their prices are so high for a 10 oz glass, I’m shocked every time I go there.
