Cask at the White Horse 40 from 40 Festival, 2nd May 2010. Classic copper bitter colour with a lacy white head. Very strong butter toffee nose and initial taste but not the slickness of diacetyl. Definitely nutty with a hint of fruitiness. Not bad and rather different from other ales. I think that if this was local beer it would definitely be seen as an acquired taste. imdownthepub (15331) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - MAR 20, 2010
Cask conditioned at Far from the Madding Crowd, Oxford. Dark amber with white head. Initially sweet malty with a nutty, fruity tone, then there is a noticeable leafy hop to add a good balance of flavour. Good flavoursome bitter. maeib (8749) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - NOV 8, 2009
Cask conditioned handpump Malt Shovel Northampton A mid brown coloured beer with a whitish head. The aroma is thin with just a hint of dry fruitiness. The taste has good fruit with nice licorice notes and berries. There is a hint of acidity which is strange but reasonably appealing. It also has vinuous notes. Tasty and with odd characteristics for a beer of its strength.
