Bottle from a friend at a bar...hee hee. Pours a golden yellow with a thick white head. Lots of carbonation and some lacing in snifter. Aroma is light fruits like apple, pear, white grapes, and possibly peaches? The taste was more mild than I was expecting with sweet light fruits, booze, mild malt balance, and heavy carbonation. Clean finish, rather dry. I was expecting a little more flavor from Chimay, but certainly not a bad beer.

Bottle at my mate Matt’s. poured a lightly hazy pale gold with a thin to medium white head. Aroma is yeasty and sugary, some citrus, earthy malts. Flavour is a slightt let down at first but it got better. Some citrus, spice. Ok.

Poured at tasting, a slightly hazy amber, with white head. Lively Co2. The aroma is yeast, banana and cloves. Taste is yeasty, banana, brown sugar a little lemon. In the finish I get some honey and pepper but it is alcohol heavy. Med bodied and dry. Very nice.

A 0.75l corked bottle. The cork says 12995. Assuming that could be the bottle number? Have been holding on to this for quite some time so looking forward to this. Starts really nice with a light cloudy orange golden body that like all other Chimay beers is absolutely loaded with millions of tiny particles floating about. All this under a big really good looking super lacing white head. The nose is classic Belgian. Lots of fruity elements with that unique yeast and a strong and powerful alcohol theme all the way. It also has a almost savory or even salty thing here also and herbs also comes rushing to the nose after leaving it in the glass for a while. It has really lots of aroma THIS. Really nice. It’s as expected quite lively on the carbonation this and it feels oily in the mouth. Yeas, classic flavors all the way. It’s sharp and it really has the alcohol punch you want, but it still manages to not be disturbing. Loaded with Belgian yeast it’s quite floral in the taste as well. I get red ripe apples with a good sweetness to it combined with her hints if clementine. It’s leaving a lingering alcohol warmth prickling down the throat. A really tasty one, and I’m a bit surprised how fast that bottle went away. Scary lightdrinkable for its strength. 03.01.2014

Pour is hazy amber with an off-white head. Nose is dough, yeast, and spices. Flavor is dark and sweet - brandy, fruity esters, spice.

Bottle. Nose is yeast, cloves, banana, some spice, light herbal notes. Complex but over dominated by the yeast. Taste is cloves, banana, brown sugar, leading to honey, orange light spice and a light peppery note in the dry corrianderish finish The mouthfeel is fine but the alcohol a little too pronounced. It’s a very nice beer but a little underwhelming for such an important anniversary.
