Aroma is belgian yeast, spice, flowers, and fruit, especially banana. Flavor starts sweet and pleasant, but finishes with a sharp and not especially pleasant ginger/cardamom spiciness. To me this is a little on the gimmicky side. It’s good, but I expected better from Chimay.

Scandenza nel 2015. Ottima birra, complessa al naso e in bocca. Al naso fresca, un po' vinosa, speziato, ecc. in bocca vari sentori, tra i quali anche amaretto. Veramente, ma veramente valida. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Geproefd @ Cultuurcafe Berlare. Thanks Kevin. Fles 3 jaar over de datum. Mooi helder goudblond bier met fijne witte schuimkraag. Aroma en smaken van perzik, abrikoos, beetje meloen, licht vineus, beetje houterig. Mooi vol en likeurachtig in de mond. Mooie balans. Top genietersbier !!

Foffern (1835) - Bodø, NORWAY - FEB 19, 2017
Bottle at Hundholmen, Bodø. The colour is slightly hazy amber with an off-white head. Fruity aroma of spices, Belgian yeast, peaches, hay, almonds, pale malt and some lemon and alcohol. Sweet flavor of grains, hay, dried fruit, spices and flowers. Has a soft and slick mouth feel, full-bodied and light bitterness. A nice and complex ale, and must be excellent to food.

Kirkas kullankeltainen, vahvasti kupliva olut paksulla vaahtoavalla pienikuplaisella valkoisella vaahdolla. Vaahto säilyy pitkään ja jättää kivasti pitsiä. Kaunis olut. Tuoksussa vahvimmin esillä viljaista maltaisuutta. Tämän lisäksi havaittavissa hedelmäisyyttä sekä lievää mausteisuutta. Maku viljaisen maltainen sekä hedelmäinen. Makeutta juuri sopivasti. Katkeruutta löytyy maun jälkipuoliskolta sekä hieman alkoholiakin. Suutuntuma aika täyteläinen. Jättää suupielet tahmeaksi. Ihan onnistunut juhlavuoden olut Chimaylta.

Bottle at 3 Brødre, december 15th 2015. Dark orange body with a white head. Aroma of spicy yeast esters and banana, with a delightful citrus note showing as the beer warms. Taste is flowery with sweet malt and spicy yeast notes. Light alcohol in finish, with a pleasant fruity yeast aftertaste.

Lore (2661) - Budapest, HUNGARY - JUN 23, 2016
Hazy golden colour, huge, dense off-white head; aroma of floral honey, chardonnay wine, some peach, green apple notes and hints of gingerbread; taste of honey, bread, apple notes, dry white wine, herbs, peppery notes and maybe some minimal anise, too; dry mouthfeel; like a Duvel with honey, herbs and christmas spices; good, though not among the best Belgian strong ales
