COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned - 150 cl, 75 cl, and 33 cl bottles. Named Grande Réserve in 75 cl bottles, and Magnum Grande Réserve in 150 cl bottles.
Chimay Blue is principally distinguished by its character of a strong beer. This is a beer whose fragrance of fresh yeast with a light, flowery rosy touch is especially pleasant. Its flavour, noticed when tasting it, only accentuates the pleasant sensations perceived in the aroma , while revealing a light but pleasant touch of roasted malt. This top fermented Trappist beer, refermented in the bottle, is not pasteurised.

330ml brown bottle. Excellent appearance - ruby brown, light tan head stays creamy and tight. Great lacing. A touch of alcohol in the nose, along with some dark fruit and sweet malts. It has some noticable hop flavours, dark sweet malt, some roasted notes. Some dryness and yeast spiciness in the finish with late alcohol warming. Really glad the local LCBO finally had it in stock! Rating #200.

Backlog. Zapach: Głównie banan, pobocznie czerwony owoc i alkohol (neutralny). Smak: Tło zbudowane na ciemniejszych słodach. Lekko alkoholowy.

Bottle. Overcarbonated batch (however, exposed to Carrefour's environment for months, probably. Btw, 10pln). Solid style's representant, can't point any disadvantage here. He, who likes the style, will surely appreciate this. Nothing special for an ordinary geek. Lacks body. Not bad.

UPDATED: DEC 9, 2017 Bottle in a cafe in France, just over the border from Basel, via Germany! I’m not going to be swayed by all the hype given to Trappist beer, this is strong, malty, interesting but not as tasty as a good stout, porter or IPA. Nothing to shout about. Get it? Trappist, nothing to shout about? Ah, never mind.

Butelka 0,33 l. Wypita 06.12.2017. Barwa karmelowa, mętna. W smaku chlebowe. Bardziej wytrawne, niż słodkie. Alkohol fenomenalnie ukryty, jednak efekty czuć bardzo szybko. Jak dla mnie świetny belg.

Pours dark Amber with quite nice carbonation. Taste is dryer than expected and really not as sweet as expected. Quite nice.

Very strong, beautiful aroma. Wonderful appearance. Despite high alcochol content, no sign of this in arorma or taste.

Best beer I have ever had.

2 finger off-white head.
Very deep, dark ruby coloured beer.

Aroma is banana mallow, toffee, raisins with a floral touch and a hint of fresh yeast.

Taste is banana mallow and raisins with a slight hint of caramel and dark roast coffee.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a high carbonation. Very low bitterness. Slightly sticky. Semi-dry.

Overall: Had a bit more in mind when I decided to try this classic for the first time. Basically a slightly roasty Tripel. Nothing wrong with that but in this case it gets kind of one-dimensional. Pleasant brew and very easy to drink, 9% ABV is nowhere to be found.
